Did you know that more than 76 percent of kids use the internet more than three to four times a week? Despite the fact that some internet site can display wrongful or misleading information, the internet can be a useful tool for educational purposes. In this paper, readers will discover reasons for how the internet can be helpful for children.
Have you ever wonder what a child does on the internet? Although some websites like: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Kik are good social sites were a child can socialize with other people they may or may not know. The internet enables children to talk to people anywhere in the world. (Mitra, 2013) Sometimes it might have a negative side because it could stop a child from interacting with friends and family which could eventually make them anti-social. But according to research, computers does not make children anti-social. (Mitra, 2013)
As I have said, children are able to learn better when at home on the internet than at school. In addition, children are able to do better academically in school. By comparison, a child can learn better on the internet than being at school reading a difficult book. In addition, some computers programs can help kids on their academic and mathematic skills. When children access the internet on large, publicly visible screens in safe and public surroundings, the net can be their most beneficial friend. Groups of children can learn almost anything by themselves, using the internet. (Mitra, 2013) Also, learning how to use such a tool like a computer or an android can help a child learn how to use heavy machinery.
Because the internet can display misleading information, children can obviously learn from what they are reading. It’s actually not a bad thing i...

The internet is ever changing, and so our minds, but can the internet mold our minds? Nicholas Carr and Michael Rosenwald support the idea that the reading we do online is making it harder to be able to sit down with a good book. In their papers they discuss the downfalls of using the web. While on the other hand author Clay Shirky challenges that thought in his piece. Shirky directly battles the idea that the internet is damaging our brains by suggesting that internet use can be insightful. In this essay I will evaluate all three articles and expose their strengths and weaknesses then add my own take on the situation.
Author Eliana Dockterman in her article, “The Digital Parent Trap,” exposes the potential benefits of technology use among young people. Dockterman’s purpose is to explain why she thinks that exposing kids to technology will enhance their learning skills because as she explains in her passage that kids memorize more when they use technology rather than when they read. She helps adopt a thoughtful feeling to help her audience have a second thought about early exposure of technology to kids. Dockterman believes that kids being exposed to technology at early ages are helpful as they pay more attention since they are the generation of technology, as Jim Taylor did a test for kids who played puzzle solving games and found that 12% did better on
Another reason for not censoring the internet is the psychological effects that it can have on a child. The filtering of the internet can tell a child that adults do not trust them to surf the net on their own. This can lead them to believe that they can not make their own decisions, and that a computer determines what right and wr...
The legendary inventor, author, and civic activist Benjamin Franklin once said, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety", meaning that those who would risk the freedom of the people around them for safety, do not deserve neither freedom nor safety for themselves. Although some researchers have concluded that banning books is a feasible way to discard content inappropriate for certain groups of people to protect them, there is much stronger evidence explaining that the topics that people want to read about in banned books are depicted worse online than in the book, regardless of their content, books are one of the best teaching devices in the world, there is something to learn in just about every book, and due to the increase of sources of corruption as technology improves, all attempts to protect children from these, “threats”, in books are futile.
In today’s society, we are overwhelmed with technology. Technology is changing everyday, and will forever be a staple in our lives. The effect that technology has on our children has brought some concerns and some praise. Children these days have no choice but to somehow be influenced by the ever growing technology in our society. Our common concern has been that although digital technology has boosted children’s ability to multitask, their ability to process information deeply may be deteriorating (Carpenter, 2010).
Kids put themselves at incredible danger by corresponding online with people they don 't know. Internet predators deliberately get go to website like social media that children visit and can even hunt down potential victims by locations or hobby.
Harris and Greenfield make many claims about how technology if negatively affecting children and their growth out of maturity and into real life. One of these is that the brain adapts to the things it experiences. Hours of internet use causes the brain to change itself to work best for internet use and not in the reality of the world. Also, if children are spending so much time on the internet, they are not going outside and getting sun, exercise, and excitement from the natural things around them. All of these things are important to the growth of a child. Children are also becoming unable to deeply think about their ideas and how to express them clearly. In line with that, they expect instant answers and quick rewards, therefore losing the ability to wait and be
The Internet has affected our lives in a considerable way. We use the internet in order to connect with society, look up information for work and educational purposes, shop, handle daily errands such as paying bills and so on. Children are not excluded from this, in fact they are capable of using internet more effectively than adults. The reason for this being that chıldren are able to learn to use new technology faster than theır adult counterparts. It is wıdely accepted that having internet connection can be very useful for children, teachers and children consider internet as a powerful tool to access to academic sources to research for theır classes and homework (Ofcome, 2007). Also having the internet is perceived as an good opportunity for children to meet new people and keep up with their friends. This is true if children use internet in a proper way. However, there is a possibility that they can encounter inappropriate materials even while searching for educational information or trying to relax with games. Violent scenes and uncensored sexual material cause serious damage for childhood development, as they can cause children to be aggressive and lonely adults. The first solution for protecting children from these harms is internet blocking and filtering programs. Although they come to forefront by means of their easy usage properties, most of the time filtering programs cannot provide an overall coverage from the internet’s harm. Therefore, parents should have involved in this process by monitoring and helping their children. Moreover media lessons which inform students about the internet’s harm can be very helpful for children.
Children also become adept at learning how to wade through an enormous amount of information and material on the Internet in order to find information related to their topic. Some would argue that this is also a beneficial outcome of technology and useful later in life.

Many children have access to the internet and are able to search up anything on Google. As with any type of media, there are positive effects and negative effects. Some of the negative effects of the internet for children are that ,since, children and adolescents are more or less technologically savvy than their parents, they are able to search about just about anything and and talk to just about anyone on the internet, this can lead to some very dangerous situations. According to the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, “89% of adolescents report using a computer, 61% report “surfing the net,” and 14% report seeing something that they do not want their parents to know about.” (Villani, 2001) 14% of adolescents reported seeing something that they did not want their parents to know about, this shows how unsupervised the internet is and shows how the internet can lead adolescents to become secretive and , maybe, even violent. Again, this leads to deviant behavior that the child learned from the internet. In addition, according to the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, “... a profile of the recent school killers, noted that almost all were computer-savvy and frequented sites where they could obtain violent, anarchist-oriented material.” (Villani, 2001) This shows that websites that have violent material on the
Children of all ages everywhere these days seem to only depend on the internet. The internet is an amazing creation, but people take advantage of it. Since there is internet there is access to all kinds of social media, games, and all sorts of other things. However, because of today’s society internet is one of the only things kids use and go on, whether it’s go on Facebook for hours or watch ridiculous videos on YouTube, the internet is taking a negative turn towards children, their brains, smartness, and attitude. Despite helpful or early learning programs, the internet does not make children smarter.
Computers have always been useful, but not until recently have computers become useful for children who are twelve and under. Of course these children enjoy playing games and talking to there friends on the computer but due to new innovations coming out everyday children can now do a lot more then just play and socialize. Computers have brought school to the home. When children come home from school it used to mean school was over but today if you have access to the internet school is know longer over but just beginning on the internet. The internet has special educational sites that children can visit and learn from. Besides that children actually can have contact with there personal teacher from school. A new invention called the “Mobile Author can be used by human instructors either from a computer or a mobile phone to create their own Intelligent Tutoring Systems and to distribute them to their students. Students can also use any computer or mobile phone to have access to theory and tests.” (Source 2, Journal) Homework, notes, review assignments can now be given over the internet by the child’s teacher from there school. “Instructors can monitor their students; progress and communicate with their students during the course.” (Source 2, Journal) Children can learn new information on the internet and they are able to review and get extra help on things they don’t understand. If a child realizes that they do not understand something when they get home, they know longer have to wait to go in to school for extra help, but they now can communicate with there teacher online or they can go to an internet tutoring system which will give them just as much help as being in a regular classroom.
Children growing up in this generation are experiencing a greater impact from computers than in the past. In the past, children and adult, could make a life without a computer, as it wasn’t a necessity or found to be all that useful from time to time. A higher level of dependency on these computers has been established, and society only has more to come in the future. The technology that comes with these complex machines is becoming more developed and is making everyday tasks simpler for most. Computers have changed our nation in many ways, from the way we operate to the accessibility of worldwide resources such as the Internet we use frequently today. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the fluctuation of the influence of computers on a child’s education in their early years, as it has been in the past, how it is in the present, and how it might be in the future.
