Child obesity, a topic more prevalent than ever. I am sure all of you are familiar with the saying “we must save our future generations”. This is not the case anymore, though. Now we must save our future’s future generation. Child obesity has now gained a spot in the cause of premature death. Who is to blame? Perhaps the government since they control what consumers can and can not buy. In the late 1900th century parents thought kids being overweight was a good thing because that’s what would provide nutrients to their body to grow. Child obesity is only getting worse and should not be taken lightly. That being said, children that are not obese usually tend to tease children that are. Once this happens a sense of depression shrouds over the child being made fun of, ends up finding hope in a sugary or savory snack. If the government created bullying acts towards children this would help them to see the severity of teasing. Child obesity is expressed as “one of the most stigmatizing and least socially acceptable conditions in childhood.” Stated by the “Preventing Childhood Obesity: Health in the Balance.” These negative social problems are very critical contributions to low self-esteem, low-self confidence, and a negative body image in children and can also affect academic performance. To help children that are having negative social problems, the government should implement a club that is available worldwide that provides a friendly hand and a place of comfort for that child. Instead of forcing that child to change educate them on the impact food and obesity has on the body. Get laws that demand every child to be in some type of extracurricular activity outside of school. Ultimately providing these factors will help decrease a child’s body
