Children are our future. They are the ones who will lead us into victory or defeat. The role of a parent is to ensure that their child succeeds in everything they do. Some parents fail to do such things. Every single day, a parent is making sure that their child(ren) do not succeed. They want to be looked at as the only potential leader. Parents are abusing their children. They are literally beating the thought that they are superior into their heads. What is child abuse? The New Jersey Supreme Court recently ruled that the state may not find a newborn to be abused or neglected based solely on evidence of prenatal drug exposure without evidence of actual harm to the child. National Advocates for Pregnant Women (NAPW) seeks to ensure that addiction and other health and welfare problems women face during pregnancy are addressed as health issues, not as crimes. They also believe that pregnant and parenting women should have access to a full range of reproductive health services, as well as non-punitive drug treatment services. Pregnant women who suffer from a drug dependency are less likely to seek prenatal care when they are threatened with prosecution. Studies have shown that prenatal care substantially improves birth outcomes even for pregnant women who continue to use drugs during their
What is child abuse? Child abuse is when a parent or caregiver, whether through action or failing to act, cause injury, death, emotional harm or risk of serious harm to a child. It happens every day, where a child is being abused. National Football League runner back Adrian Peterson was accused of abusing his 4-year-old son. “Peterson has said he never intended to harm his son and was only disciplining him in the way he had been as a child growing up in East Texas.” No one has the right to tell you how to chastise your child but, there are other ways to go about the situation. You may never mean to harm your children and the way you discipline them may be considered child abuse to others.
Many parents' have a lack of understanding of children's needs, child development and parenting skills. Child abuse is short and long term deferential to a society and the victim itself. Child abuse is short and long term deferential to a society and the victim itself.
Some parents in the world do not discipline their children and do not care what the children. All they care about are them selves. At that point the social workers take the child and put them in foster homes with complete and total strangers. Some companies just put kids with people who do not care about the children just what they get paid. They just let the children go off and do what they want and do not supervise the children’s activities. The social workers should do more thoroughly background checks. There should also be more supervision in foster homes instead of little supervision, and the workers should visit the home and the children more often than they actually do.
There are millions of adults in federal prison, but The United States is the only country in the world that condemns children to die in prison (Pequeneza, 2014). It’s sad to think about children being sentenced to life in prison, and frankly it is a disturbing and a scary fact to face. However, in recent years the U.S Supreme Court has made it illegal to charge juveniles with life sentencing for anything less than murder (Pequeneza, 2014). This new law gives children a second chance at life when they are finally released from prison. Many children are forced to be in a household that is not suitable for a developing child. Children are mistreated, neglected, abused, and other factors. These unfit situations that children are in make them more likely to become violent, and maybe end up in juvenile
The discussion session is very informative regarding to the resources available to substance-abused moms and pregnant women. It is thought provoking to know the statistics of drug and alcohol used during pregnancy. Growing up, I was taught not to abuse drug or alcohol for a simple reason, addiction. At some point, I heard from multiple people that substance-abused could tremendously affect us in some shape or form. Especially during pregnancy, the consequences of such behavior would put an innocent life at risk. Hence, I think it’s easily to blame on the mother for any unfortunate consequences experiences by the newborn. Yet rarely, many of us would pause for a second and ask “why”.
When a child is put in adoptive care, they would expect to get adopted. But when prices for a kid go for as much as a car, foster care systems can be overcrowded and traumatic to kids. Every year over 428,000 kids have to be given up for adoption in just the U.S alone. But when only 135,000 get adopted overcrowding can become an issue. So how come there so many kids not getting adopted every year. Well, when prices are raised as much as double a car, many kids can be uncared for and forgotten by families that do what them but can’t have them. Families who do spend that type of money for the kids, get put in thousands of dollars in debt, and that could potentially ruin a family. But a lot of family don’t have the money, so when 293,000 kids get left in foster care systems they can become hectic and traumatizing.
"Pulling someone down will never help you reach the top." is a great quote that everyone should strive to remember. When setting new goals you want to achieve, you will notice others want a similar goal as you. Instead of worrying about them and trying to stop them from reaching their goals, work on yourself and do what you need to do to reach the top. Hurting someone and making them feel worthless will not make you a better person. When people do things to bring others down or intentionally try physically hurting them, is called bullying. Bullying is a serious issue that has big consequences.
“Stolen people, stolen dream” is the brutality faced by numerous, vulnerable, gullible children in the black market around the world even in the admirable United States. More than ever, it has become a lucrative method that is trending in the underground economy. A pimp can profit up to $150,000 per children from age 4-12 every year, as reported by the UNICEF. Also, according to the International Labor Organization statistics, “There are 20.9 million victim of human trafficking globally, with hundreds of thousands in the United

Poverty is “the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions” (Merriam-Webster dictionary, 2015); in other words, struggling to provide a comfortable living style. According to the United States Census Bureau, the poverty rate was highest in the 1960s and decreased greatly in the 1970s. However, it is now slowly starting to increase again.
