Chemistry before Technology: Alchemy

In the year of 3,000 B.C. man showed his first interest in Chemistry. The first known person was a woman who created perfumes from different substances. During this time Chemistry was more of an art than a substance. In the next paragraph I will tell you what society was like before technology was added to Chemistry. What chemically natural resources limited and advanced the process of technology being added to Chemistry. How adding the technology has affected our society. And how I think it will affect the future of Chemistry.
Chemistry before technology was known as alchemy. Alchemy is the medieval forerunner of chemistry, based on the supposed transformation of matter. According to the New York Times article “The Magical Origins of Modern Chemistry” alchemy was a philosophy and practice that sought to understand the nature of matter. Because of the alchemist they were able to make porcelain, pigments, perfumes, gunpowder, and pharmaceuticals. Before technology was brought into chemistry it took longer for scientist to discover certain items and chemical compounds and it took them longer to figure out how to do certain things. Before there were phones and computers scientist and chemists could not share their data with others in hope to gain more knowledge and ideas on how to make chemical reactions work. A lot of chemical reactions and medical advancements comes from things that already exist in the natural world. Technology only enhanced what they could combined and make out of something that already exist. Natural resources could have also caused a delay in the combining of certain chemicals because they did not have what they needed in order to make or combined chemicals. Even today we still have problem finding medication...

As long as things head in a positive direction we have the chance for a very bright future. I hope that this essay has advanced your understanding of how much we have evolved from the ancient days to now, but also showed you some things that our society has done wrong with the technology by not putting their efforts into what I believe is where they needed to be. What we have to be aware of when dealings with the limitations of resources but also the advancements that could ne made. What chemistry and technology has done to our society today. And also what I believe is right and wrong with the way technology is headed in the future and also the right approaches that needed to be made in order to help our society and also the chemist as well.
