Skill Sets of a Leader
A leader is an individual who has a dream, a vision, a steadfast determination and commitment to achieve the vision, and the skills needed to make it reality. The following explains Disney Institute’s view of leadership:
A leader is far more than a label—leadership is about taking actions to create sustained, positive transformations within an organization. Great leaders align their own values and vision with those of their business and help operationalize them for the future. The most meaningful way to demonstrate these skills is to passionately communicate your shared vision and practice what your company stands for. Leaders also cultivate committed employees who strive to lead as well (Disney, para. 1).
Van Wart stated (as cited in Zaleznik, 1977; Bennis and Nanus, 1985: Kotter, 1990, “… leadership is about producing change and movement and thus focuses on vision, strategizing, aligning people, and inspiring .... “ (p.32). the ability to lead effectively is based on a number of key skills.

6.) Flexible - When the leader listens and is willing to be flexible, change and achieving goals is an easier process.
7.) Loyalty- All too often, loyalty is not reciprocated from the top down. This is very disheartening to any employee, especially the dedicated, hardworking employee which now becomes resistant to assist the leader is reaching his/her goal.
Conclusion. Skills that an effective leader should possess differ from person to person and differ in each situation. This paper reviewed three leadership skill sets. Additionally, this paper reviewed my personal option as to the skills an effective leader should possess.
