Who are you? Who am I? Do you know who you are? Are you positive with that answer? Change isn't always a positive experience to undergo. But the experience to undergo change can always affect something or someone's life. In the book, "Jacob Have I Loved," by Katherine Paterson, the main characters Sara Louise Bradshaw, McCall Purnee, sister Caroline Bradshaw and Captain Hiram Wallace face many obstacles in their life on Rass Island while experiencing the growth of fellow friend and family member, Sara Louise. In this book, you will discover that one can overlook one's flaws and disadvantages to find that one is beautiful and significant underneath to change/arrive at your destined fate.
One's knowledge and beliefs in religion can affect who you really are and your destiny. The main character, Sara Louise Bradshaw, feels like she is unloved by her family members and friends or at the very least, loved less compared to her twin sister, Caroline. [Sara] Louise's strong belief in the Roman Catholic bible has affected her mind on a fixed impression and has changed her inner outer-appearance. For as it says, " "Romans nine thirteen, "As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated." " (Paterson 178) This quote refers to the Christian bible story of Abraham, and the rivalry of his two sons, Jacob and Esau. Religion teaches one their general morals, however when one cannot rely on religious beliefs to control their life and their soul in universal concept.
Louise is easily presuaded by a prayer and does not dare to finish it for that's what she's afraid of and that's what makes her unique. The simple prayer is,

I pray the lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,

One's destiny and fate can be determined with one's current living habits and ways, however with determination and hard workd, a hard life can be changed. Caring for the young physically can also represent the love transfer emotionally for the innocent. Sometimes desire and dedication can't change one to something they aren't meant to be, to something they aren't for there are many natural obstacles that exsist for a reason. These concepts play a valuable role not only in one's adventure in self-discovery, but also a trip around to discover and to live life. No matter what conditions and obstacles one face, one should always believe in themself for with hard work and determination, one should be and would be rewarded with valuables beyond this universe.
Just because people within a family are blood related and living together, it does not mean they are identical in their beliefs and actions. In some cases the generations of people in the family have the same way looking at things and understand the same sets of rules and believe in same kind of moral behavior. Unlike that, in the novel, “The Chrysalids”, the protagonist, David Strorm and his father, Joseph, the antagonist have very different characters and conflicting points of view.

A deeply pious man, John considers the Bible a sublime source of moral code, guiding him through the challenges of his life. He proclaims to his kid son, for whom he has written this spiritual memoir, that the “Body of Christ, broken for you. Blood of Christ, shed for you” (81). While John manages to stay strong in the faith and nurture a healthy relationship with his son, his relationship with his own father did not follow the same blueprint. John’s father, also named John Ames, was a preacher and had a powerful effect on John’s upbringing. When John was a child, Father was a man of faith. He executed his role of spiritual advisor and father to John for most of his upbringing, but a shift in perspective disrupted that short-lived harmony. Father was always a man who longed for equanimity and peace. When two siblings are born together, and are close in age, many people wonder whether they will be the same or different altogether. Both brothers were raised in a very strict presbyterian household. Norman is the older brother, and he is much more responsible and family orientated. Paul is the irresponsible younger brother; Paul as an adult was not at home much anymore. Both brothers were loved equally as children, but how they view and use love is what separates them. Paul and Norman differ in behavior and character.

I think that any person in their childhood were more pure and they believed more in God. In every stage of our life we gain and we lose something. In the course of this changes every person experiences important difficulties that will change their opinion about life and religion. Religion is part of our life in each stage in different forms, in our childhood we learn the most important values about life and simple rules about morality. If we always remember what we learned in our childhood we can become a very spiritual adult, the equilibrium between the childhood and the consecration of the adult life are part of forms that styles a person of the humanity a real self.
One of the many decisions that has to made in life is what, if any, religion they will practice. Christianity, the belief in God, and Jesus as his son, or Judaism, to follow the direction of the Torah are some of the major religions that a person may choose. This decision may be one of the biggest decisions of a person’s life, and each religion has similarities and differences, and pro’s and cons. Two of the major religions, Judaism and Christianity, are alike in their inspiration of sacred texts, but are different in their identity of Jesus, and practice of worship.
