Two authors, Benjamin and O`Reilly (2011) investigate to find out particular challenges MBA graduates encounter. They extend and apply one researcher’s previous work by focusing on the experience of MBA graduates. To study and investigate actual challenges that young managers face in their early career, they collected data from managers in several types of organizations. They performed 60-90 minutes interview for 55 graduates conducting key informant interviewing: research-listing, an ethnographic approach. They found four leadership challenges: managing and motivating subordinates, managing relationships with peers and bosses, developing a leadership mind-set, and coping with setbacks and disappointments. This result indicates and suggests that business school also has challenges in their curriculum. Therefore this study has implication that school should teach students about actual difficult challenges young manager faces currently. This study does not rely on survey but interview due to its amount of time in they spend. It might indicate that they collected more profound information face to face, in actual conversation. This is one main point that I assume this study is more reliable than usual investigation which only conducting

They had five research questions related with influence of MBA program for graduate’s career, income, job promotions, and job performance in long and short-term period. They also examined how MBA point average, gender, ethnic background affect graduate’s career development. To investigate these research question topics; short- and long-term impact of MBA education on their careers, they surveyed over 300 MBA graduates from an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) international-accredited college of business. Consequently, they found positive influence on MBA graduate’s annual income, and job promotion in short and long terms. On the other hand, the survey’s data did not show significant differences current or recent job positions with MBA’s GPA, gender, pre-MBA work experience, and different ethnic background. However, they found tendency that part-time MBA students stay at lower-level position, meanwhile, full-time MBA students promote higher-level more easily and quickly. Although this survey’s result indicates smiler point as other article’s survey result, one different point; part-time MBA student tend to stay lower position, was mentioned clearly. Contradiction between two articles is also good information to my topic as well as same

In this document I will share how I was influenced to believe in my own ability. I will also share how my view about management and leadership was changed in one conversation and how that conversation boosted my confidence. I will also share the manager that influenced my learning the most and how through not just words but also actions he showed me that being a leader is not being the person sitting in an office barking instructions, but being the leader is someone who keeps motivating his team to want to accomplish more and be more through actions. I will also share my learning through this assignment, and recommendations on fixing
The first concept that we covered in the Master’s program at Baker University was to identify what type of leader you would like to be. At the time we did not have the knowledge but it was setting up the path of deliverables that would be achieved 2 years later. By analyzing the past leadership habits, applying new leadership concepts, thought process and real examples. We not have the tools to understand the individual’s leadership concepts and also organizational leadership concepts.

The only way to develop the kind of leaders a changing organization needs is to make leadership a critical criterion for promotion, and then manage people’s careers to develop it.

The case study and readings in this class have painted a clear picture of the various ways one can be a leader, the catalyst that has inspired the least likely to lead to action and the many different capacities in which one is a leader. From the parent whose child is the victim of abuse to the CEO of a major corporation, leadership can spring forth and blaze trails never imagined by others. I learned that on my journey to executive leadership, I can begin leading in my current capacity as an analyst. I do not need to wait to be given the “thumbs up” to lead, as I can be a leader in many ways everyday. Leadership is not about magnificent speaking or major endeavors, “it is about coping with change” (Kotter, p.31, 2003). We all are subject to situation dealing with change daily, it is all about how we cope with it and how others interpret and accept our coping skills.
