The Four Characteristics Of A Biological Life

There are many cellular processes through which animals must endure in order to what they are supposed to do. Animals withstand procedures such as cellular energy, or energy metabolism, how they grow, how they reproduce, and how they provide new variation throughout each generation. There are many reasons to why all these processes define biological life. One of the many reasons biological life is possible is because of energy metabolism. Electron carriers play a crucial role for energy metabolism. During cellular respiration glucose must be oxidized because if it is simply just given to the O2 then the reaction would combust and set on fire (Biology, pg. 124). There are different kinds of electron carriers that can be used for these procedures: 1. “Soluble carriers that move electrons from one molecule to another,“ 2. Membrane-bound carriers that are capable to form a redox chain, and 3. Carriers that move within the membrane itself (Biology, pg. 124). Although, there are also other forms of carriers that may be able to carry electrons as well as protons, such as the iron containing cytochromes. ATP is also a main role that plays into a cell’s metabolism, or in …show more content…

Without one another they may not be able to work and do what it is they are supposed to do. They are used to describe life because without cellular energy (energy metabolism) there would be no movement and if there would be no ATP to provide the movement, then the cell’s functions would not have any energy to move or produce work properly. If they do not have the energy to work properly, then cells would not be able to grow or divide, which could multiple problems for life in general. If there is no cell growth, then there would not be cell reproduction. If there is no cell reproduction, then there could not be variation through meiosis. All of these four characteristics depend on each other to provide a biological
