Rosen tells the readers the main purpose for cell phone use in the past, versus present day. Her purpose is to make society aware of how cell phones have influenced our lives in order to inspire change as to how we view our cell phones. Rosen directs her writing to everyone in the present day by describing the negative results of cell phone use and how it impacts our lives and those around us. Without a doubt, cell phones are going to be a part of our world, but it is the responsibility of every cell phone owner to exercise self control and understand that a cell phone is nothing more than a device.
However, they could also save your life. Today, cellphones make it a lot easier to get help. If you are in trouble and need help all you have to do is say “Siri, call 911” on your cell phone. Instead of going to the police office after an incident you can report it while or even before it happens for immediate help. It wasn’t always that easy though. We used to not be able to get help before cell phones. “We had to literally call for help from our own voices instead of a cellphone” said marc Bodnick from /www.quora.edu/ they can be easily used for natural disasters, being attacked, or health emergencies as
In a world that is rapidly becoming faster paced, finding various means to keep up with the changing environment is a must. Cell phones are one of the most practical inventions of time that make this possible. However, the subtle effect they have on our culture today, their invasion of our privacy, and the possible health risks they may cause are reasons to reassess the value of this intriguing device. While cell phones may be valuable, they are also potentially harmful.
Cell phones have changed the way we go about life in many ways. They change the way we interact with people in our everyday life. They hinder our physical aspect of life without us even knowing. One of the biggest issues I see is the changes it creates in our classrooms from an educational standpoint. Cell phones have been negatively impacting our lives in some very important ways.
"How dangerous could a cell phone actually be?" That is one of the many questions a person will ask themselves throughout their lifetime. Cell phones cause many distractions to humans throughout the day. Many cell phone owners find themselves checking their phones for messages and notifications even when the phone did not vibrate or ring. The overuse of cell phones will have negative effects on the mental and physical health of its users, will cause driving distractions, and will have a negative impact on the communication skills of humans.
Many people in today’s society rely on technology to help us with our daily lives and help us stay connected to family, friends, and other people. The advancements in today’s cell phone technology is very complex and made to be efficient for their owners, allowing them to surf the net and IM message people instantly. Cellphones in particular have developed very fast in the past 15 years. From my childhood, cell phones have evolved from the old school Nokia bricks that allowed texts, calls, and simple graphic games, to todays I-Phones that have higher computable capabilities than some computers. In the United States alone, there is an estimated population of around 297 million people, and 197 million people are subscribed to cell phone companies (Starr). With so many people in today’s society with so much power and opportunity in the palm of their hands, we shouldn’t forget that “With great power comes great responsibility” –Voltaire.
Are cell phones a harmful distraction to society? With advances in technology today, the demand for better cell phones is skyrocketing. Most innovations have are two sides, the good side and the bad side and the cell phone is no exception. Many people find it difficult to believe that there was a time that cell phones did not exist. Letters back then were used to pass messages across before the telephones were introduced. Initially, telephones were used only to call people, who would receive the call only if they were near the receiver. Then the cell phones were introduced. They could receive or make calls and text messages to most parts of the world. With the cell phones, it was easier to write a text message than to hand write a note as it was before (). With time, the level of use of cell phones has gone up with more features being introduced. The cell phone technology is a double-edged innovation that inevitably changed as both positively and negatively socially.

Most people let their phones control their lives and if their not carful it could have some serious consequences. Phones continue to get more and more advanced as time moves forward. According to the Pew Research Center at Harvard University, “78% of teens now have a cell phone, and almost half (47%) of those own smartphones” (Pew Research). There is no question that the number of American teenagers that own cell phones is increasing as technology continuously advances in today’s society. So many developments in cellular technology explain why teenagers crave the latest cell phone on the market. Parents of teenagers have to make the decision of whether or not their teen should own the newest phone. Surprisingly, these small portable phones have created a controversy among many parents and pediatricians among America. Some believe that teenagers should have a cell phone to provide safety and assurance to the teens and their parents. Whereas many claim that cell phones are not beneficial towards teenagers and the owning of a cell phone should wait until adulthood. Although some parents argue that cell phones provide teenagers with safety, teenagers should not own cell phones due to the various medical issues and social problems that are linked to teenagers owning cell phones.
Dangers of cell phones to the health and safety on any one individual can be supported not only in opinion but fact as well. Opinions and research vary greatly on the negative aspects of cell phone usage, although most would choose benefits over that negative. While most consumers may appreciate the convenience and mobility of cell phones, the human body will not.

That’s torture.” (Bernstein, 2013) This quote by Keith James, a prisoner advocate, discusses what solitary confinement is like. As extreme as this may be social isolation can be minimally comparable to solitary confinement. In both cases somebody is being isolated from the outside world, the major difference being solitary confinement is forced upon a person while social isolation is a person’s choice. Even though mobile users are claiming that they are using their devices for social purposes only, scholars believe that may be beginning to cause social isolation amongst people (Omotayo, Yiefeng, and Shyam, 2008).
