According to the Center on Media and Child H, 22% percent of young children (ages 10-14) own a cell phone. Even 84% of teens (ages 15-18) own one. And with the rapid growth in social media, many of these children want to keep in contact with their friends through instant messaging, updating their status, posting pictures, etc. They should have cell phones and if they don’t, they will get bullied at school. Kids are especially cruel these days, and if they find out that you do not own a cell phone, they would assume that you’re poor. And the child would feel embarrassed if they needed to make a phone call or a text by borrowing their friend’s phone. Without their cell phones, they would have a much more difficult time making new friends because that child wouldn’t have much to relate to. For instance, to find out about the latest events or even birthday parties, everything is on social media. Even though there are other forms of communication, the old school way of receiving an invitation by mail is lame to them. And in today’s generation, the popularity of cell phones has made it easier for school-aged children to keep their friend’s updated. On the other hand, if a child were to lack a cell phone, they would be at a social disadvantage, therefore causing them to be
In the article entitled, “Our Cell Phones Ourselves”, Christine Rosen describes how cell phones have changed the way we communicate. Rosen tells the readers the main purpose for cell phone use in the past, versus present day. Her purpose is to make society aware of how cell phones have influenced our lives in order to inspire change as to how we view our cell phones. Rosen directs her writing to everyone in the present day by describing the negative results of cell phone use and how it impacts our lives and those around us. Without a doubt, cell phones are going to be a part of our world, but it is the responsibility of every cell phone owner to exercise self control and understand that a cell phone is nothing more than a device.
This first handheld cell phone weighed 2.4 pounds and was 9 x 5 x 1.75 inches in size. For reference, the iPhone 6 is 5.44 x 2.64 x 0.27 inches and weighs just 129 grams (0.28 pounds). The first handheld cell phone also had only 20 minutes of battery life when talking. Once the phone battery was drained, it took approximately 10 hours to charge back up fully. As phones change, society changes along with it because people rely on their phones for everything. As phones develop people develop with them. And People have evolved to have everything they need right in their pockets.
Cell phones have made a big impact on the world, for example, people are using them daily, and they have influenced science, politics, and many more fields.
Cell phones have changed the way we go about life in many ways. They change the way we interact with people in our everyday life. They hinder our physical aspect of life without us even knowing. One of the biggest issues I see is the changes it creates in our classrooms from an educational standpoint. Cell phones have been negatively impacting our lives in some very important ways.
There was a time when people communicated mainly through writing letters, talking on the phone, or speaking personally to others. Our communication capabilities and the dynamic of our social world has changed drastically with the introduction of electronics – especially cellular smartphones. In today’s world, hand-held cellular phones have transformed the way people communicate. While these devices have made us much more productive and efficient, they are causing our society to lose the important life skill of interpersonal communication. People can be seen everywhere fixating on their phones instead of interacting with others. Many are mesmerized by what they can do on their phones and are often seen using them while walking down the street, sitting at a restaurant during dinner, and even while driving. I believe cell phones are negatively impacting our society because they are harming our interpersonal skills, consuming our lives, and creating an imminent danger.
Many people in today’s society rely on technology to help us with our daily lives and help us stay connected to family, friends, and other people. The advancements in today’s cell phone technology is very complex and made to be efficient for their owners, allowing them to surf the net and IM message people instantly. Cellphones in particular have developed very fast in the past 15 years. From my childhood, cell phones have evolved from the old school Nokia bricks that allowed texts, calls, and simple graphic games, to todays I-Phones that have higher computable capabilities than some computers. In the United States alone, there is an estimated population of around 297 million people, and 197 million people are subscribed to cell phone companies (Starr). With so many people in today’s society with so much power and opportunity in the palm of their hands, we shouldn’t forget that “With great power comes great responsibility” –Voltaire.
I remember a classmate when I was in high school because he never talked to anybody. He spent most of his time on his cell phone or using his tablet, and he did not do well in school. He was different than my other classmates and I believe that he never felt comfortable in the classroom. Everybody knows that cell phones have changed peoples’ life dramatically. Cell phones are one of the most revolutionary advances in the last decades because they make things simpler and easier but cell phones have a strong impact on teenagers. Teenagers are in one of the most important phase in their lives because they are exploring the world and developing their capacities. I believe that cell phones have more negative than positives effects on teenagers for many reasons.
Cell phones have crept into an owner’s possession at all times. “The mobile phone has become a part of us: our best friend who will save all our secrets, pleasures and sorrows” ("Exploring"). Teens have developed the need to know the latest news on social media every minute of every day; they do not want to miss any little detail. Since the beginning of smart phones, high school students have felt the need to have their media open on their smart phone in front of them so they do not feel empty. Once someone has become attached or addicted to something, it is hard to change their habits. Cell phones have changed people socially, especially with the availability to social media with electronics.
Since the invention of the cell phones, in 1973, it has quickly become the most popular device used especially today during the twenty-first century. Due to its hands-free-easy-to-use design, the amount of people that own a cell phone is rapidly increasing. The useful text messaging feature has proved to be extremely useful in current times. Along with these helpful features, the cell phone is easily accessible and more portable. The majority of phone companies offer a 3G or 4G data plan, meaning internet access can be found on your phone almost anywhere, at any time. In addition to its easy portability, the cell phone is a very useful and helpful device, allowing one to stay connected to the outer world. “With a smartphone, you can connect to the Web from virtually anywhere. Dangers of cell phones to the health and safety on any one individual can be supported not only in opinion but fact as well. Opinions and research vary greatly on the negative aspects of cell phone usage, although most would choose benefits over that negative. While most consumers may appreciate the convenience and mobility of cell phones, the human body will not.
The major purpose of cellphones is to provide an outlet for verbal communication at a distance, and as the generation progresses in the Digital Age, this purpose has shifted

Kids using cell phones and other tablets are becoming more and more distant from their parents, for the simple fact that the Kids are on the tablets/phones more often than they are with their parents, and as a child you need to bond with your parents and not a tablet/phone. Kids are becoming so used to playing on tablets/phones that they are not going outside and enjoying life as kids did when there was not technology.
