Technology has improved a lot in over the last decade. Today’s cell phones are becoming more and more popular nowadays and with its user-friendly design, it’s making it more convenient for all age groups. Cell phones have made a significant impact on the social life of youth and have benefited their education. With its capabilities from voice and text services, today’s technology in cell phones offer a great camera, alarm clock, navigation, radio, email, internet, and allow access to a variety of useful applications. The growing technology of the smart phone has a huge impact on the younger generations, in a positive way. According to the Center on Media and Child H, 22% percent of young children (ages 10-14) own a cell phone. Even 84% of teens (ages 15-18) own one. And with the rapid growth in social media, many of these children want to keep in contact with their friends through instant messaging, updating their status, posting pictures, etc. They should have cell phones and if they don’t, they will get bullied at school. Kids are especially cruel these days, and if they find out that you do not own a cell phone, they would assume that you’re poor. And the child would feel embarrassed if they needed to make a phone call or a text by borrowing their friend’s phone. Without their cell phones, they would have a much more difficult time making new friends because that child wouldn’t have much to relate to. For instance, to find out about the latest events or even birthday parties, everything is on social media. Even though there are other forms of communication, the old school way of receiving an invitation by mail is lame to them. And in today’s generation, the popularity of cell phones has made it easier for school-aged children to keep their friend’s updated.
