Definition of Blood Sugar

To understand what normal blood sugar levels are, one must first know what blood sugar actually means. There are actually several kinds of sugars, such as fructose, sucrose and glucose. Fructose and sucrose come from food sources, such as fruit. Glucose is the only natural sugar that is found in the body. So, when a person is discussing blood sugar levels, they are actually talking about the amount of glucose in the body. But the terms “blood sugar” and “blood glucose” are commonly used interchangeably.
