Causes and Effects of Teen Suicide

An average of 276,000 youngsters between the ages 15-25 years tries to kill themselves every year; 5000 succeed. The most common causes? Stress, bullying, failed relationships, abuse, and failures at studies.
Teenage suicide is wrong, it indicates how ruthless today’s society is, and it proves that sometimes, teenagers feel like they can’t be understood or accepted, that they don’t have an adult or close friend to consult to. Teenage suicide is truly sad, to even think that someone feels the absolute need to end their life because there seems to be no other answer, when in fact, there really is. More females than males attempt suicide, and most teenagers attempt or seriously think about suicide in their first two years of high school roughly ages 14 to 16. It decreases once teenagers reach their senior year. The most common reasons for suicide are bullying and/or cyber bullying. An average of 157,000 people ages 10-24 receive treatment at hospitals for self-inflicted injuries, most cause from attempted suicide according to Statistic Brains.
Teenage suicide doesn’t just affect the victim, it also has negative effects the school/college, families, friends, the victim’s neighborhood, etc. Families easily sink into depression, friends might have regrets, blaming themselves for not realizing something sooner, and peers might feel as if they were part of the cause. The school might get stricter to prevent something like that from happening again. Colleges might get bad reviews if it becomes a repetitive problem. It’s even caused families to leave their homes and move to different areas because of the feelings caused by suicide, especially for mothers. ... be having trouble or look depressed. For all we know, it could just make their day.
Even if suicide is one of the leading deaths for teens, it doesn’t mean it can’t be prevented. The more kindness, the less hurt. If no one is mean to one another, then there’s no reason to end something, and no one has to feel hurt guilty, or sad.
