The reasons I want to earn an MS in Management/Business Analytics degree are that an MS in Management/Business Analytics degree will help me to tap into the growth I have seen within my current organization (Wells Fargo) for “big data” skilled employees, understand the emphasis that many of the commercial companies I cover place on business analytics for decision making, and capitalize on the expected need within my current role as a Commercial Banking Credit Analyst to find new ways to view our business.
According to International Data Corporation research worldwide business analytics spending is expected to reach $58.6 billion in 2015 and $101.9 billion in 2019. Over the past 18 months my organization has rapidly grown its Business Analytics

Based on the my current work experience and the curriculum of the MS in Management/Business Analytics program I would to be able to make that transition shortly after graduation. Prior to applying for the MS in Management/Business Analytics program, I inquired from internal hiring managers and recruiter on the potential impact of MS in Management/Business Analytics on my career options. While my MBA experience was enjoyable and has been extremely helpful, it lacked any true technical “game changers” for me. I benefited most from learning real world methodologies but my work experience combined with a MS in Management/Business Analytics degree would be a significant career boost. As I noted earlier, my organization has spent resources to attract external candidates and promote internal employees with data intensive backgrounds. These posting routinely require SAS/SQL, UNIX, Python and modeling skills. Also my research of the essential skills necessary to advance in a business analytics career, are heavily inclusive in the curriculum for the Business Analytics Track. I believe I have significant credit analysis and finance background but it has become clear to me that merging this experience with technology, methodologies and techniques is vital to staying competitive and ultimately
Over this course of this semester, I have learned a tremendous amount of information about myself from the self-exploration series. The results of my PGI (Personal Globe Inventory) presented me with a couple of different career paths to explore. The first type of career that was brought up to my attention was an enterprising career. There were a number of enterprising careers, but the one that interested me the most was business management. I decided to choose the business management because I am majoring in Sustainability and my focus is in Economics. I think business management would be an excellent fit for myself because I have actually done some research prior to this class about management. I would like to someday own an ice rink, and I think that becoming a manager would be a great stepping-stone towards reaching my goal. The requirements for becoming a business manager vary from university to university, but the overall direction of the major revo...
I am currently a mid-level manager and to move forward in my organization I need to obtain a four-year degree. I was able to directly use what I was learning in this course in my work relat...
As an eager to learn business student, I am thrilled to submit my application to the prestigious Eller College of Management. I am passionate about finance and wish to continue pursuing my degree at The University of Arizona. My knowledge of business and negotiating as well as the networking skills and fast paced environments that I have possessed throughout my time as a pre-business major, and the professional experiences I have had to this point, have prepared me to be a great asset to the finance department at Eller. I have chosen this major due to my ability to work hard in stressful situations, handle competition, communicate extremely well, as well as reflect integrity in all situations. A business degree would put me one step closer

Companies have transformed technology from a supporting tool into a strategic weapon.”(Davenport, 2006) In business research, technology has become an essential means that many organizations use in their daily operations. According to the article, Analytics is a major technological tool used. It is described as “the extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive models, and fact-based management to drive decisions and actions."(Davenport, 2006) Data is compiled to enhance business practices. When samples are taken, they are used to examine research and understand how to solve problems or why situations are as they are. Furthermore, in this article, Thomas Davenport discusses analytics from a business standpoint. He refers to organizations that have been successful in their usage of data and statistical analysis. In addition, he also discusses how data and statistics can be vital in the efforts to improve the operations of businesses.
Analytics can show more comprehensive overview of your business, reducing the risk of making decisions on personal bias and of utmost importance to plan a more efficient future.
Only when an organization is capable of using analytics to its full potential will it have a sustainable competitive advantage. The number of organizations using analytics is growing exponentially. Much information can be gained just from analyzing one variable, but every piece of information is significant in some way. Businesses use analytics to make improvements, better see future demands, meet sales forecasts, make decisions, come up with strategy plans, and rationalize and validate key performance indicators.
Pursuing a business degree was not first on my list of obtainable degrees. Not until I had taken a variety of classes did I realize that I needed to purse a degree that I could foresee a successful future. The opportunities and careers available to business majors have been a large contributing factor to my decision to pursue a business degree. Networking is a valuable aspect of business, and it is vital that business majors invest an adequate amount of time meeting and connecting with others in the
I have often heard it said that if you want your business to succeed you should hire and surround yourself with people who are smarter than yourself. In the modern business world companies are finding it more and more difficult to compete solely on product, especially as it seems that every company a given industry is producing the (or very similar) products. Even competing on quality is a hard sell in the modern market as quality standards have become intense as consumer expectations have continued to rise. Thomas Davenport, professor of information technology and management at Babson College in Massachusetts is also the forerunning spokesperson for analytics and the use of them in business to achieve a competitive edge.
Courses like Customer-Driven Marketing and Revealing Consumer Insights would enable me to explore the connection with customers, which will benefit my career goals in Brand Marketing. Also, diversified group projects offered throughout the program provide me an opportunity to excel as a leader and manage teams, deadlines and deliverables, which are essential skills in the professional world. Moreover, MSMI combines academic training and on-the-job experience which are lacking in my college education. I firmly believe this combination will enable me to put theories into practice and build a solid and professional foundation for a successful career
I am currently employed as a Software Engineering Senior Analyst at Accenture. The Information system advances so rapidly that at times it is too difficult to keep up with it without proper knowledge and experience. While most of the people do get a relatively easy entry in the field after under graduation, it is very difficult to aim for a constant growth only on that basis. The field demands upgraded knowledge and experience for career growth and (achieve goals). And that is why I aspire, to pursue Masters in Management Information Systems at your esteemed University.
I aim to pursue a career in Finance. I am attracted by this field because Finance is neither completely art nor science but a mixture of both and I enjoy work where there is a scope for thinking and creativity. Moreover I have big passion about the finance. I love watching how money is flowing over the world and the way things affect international financial market. Also analyzing stock market and companies excites me. I know that process to become financial planner is really difficult. However, I know that I can take all the difficulties and will be the best. I am sure that I chose my first step as starting at Eastern Washington University is the best choice. My decision to apply for a master's degree of finance and investment stems from my strong ability for numerical analysis. My previous work experience has been working with business development in the field of hospitality. I have been a part of organizing products to create sustainability for the company. Currently I work as a Lead at Gonzaga University, I began working there more than a year but through leadership development and hard work I was quickly promoted to Supervisor position.
I believe the quantitative skills that I practiced and honed from my past experiences could bring me unique perspective for my graduate studies. At Princeton University’s Master in Finance program, I would like to further gain financial knowledge and skills, and ultimately prepare myself for the long-term challenge in my future career of financial analytics.
It is closely related to the field of management science. Business intelligence can be querying, reporting, OLAP. In other words, querying, reporting, OLAP, and alert tools can help in answering questions such as what happened, how many, how often the problem occurred, where the problem is coming from, and what actions are needed to resolve the problem. Business analytics helps in answering questions like why a certain thing is happening; what if these trends continue in the future and what is the best that can happen in the current scenario etc.
Thus the reasons why I want to go back to university and do a MBA to get myself a thorough business background to understand not only my career experiences but other students as well and put them in to business context and have a holistic view of the organization. The knowledge I will gain should help facilitate a career change. After extensive work in high tech LNG shipping industry, I want to transfer to shore based industry.
