According to Carl Jung’s typology theory each individual develops personal preferences which become the foundation for how they face life’s challenges and interact with others. Based on this knowledge Isabel Briggs Myers developed the Myers-Briggs Type indicator (MBTI). This test helps individuals identify and study their individual preference and those of others. After taking the Jung Typology Test, which is based on the MBTI, it was confirmed that my four dominate personality preferences are Introversion, iNtuition, Thinking and Judging. However, first and most important to identify and study my own personal preferences. Kroeger (2002) said “the whole process starts with understanding yourself” (Kroeger, 2002). He then goes on to describe INTJs as self confident, balanced, intelligent, independent, and competent (Kroeger, 2002). Typology has helped me to recognize the strengths of my personality but also the weaknesses. INTJs can lack in interpersonal skills, communication, asking for help, and teaching. They can sometimes come off as controlling and arrogant. For example, we recently put in new machinery at work which required each of us to have additional training. As a INTJ, I welcomed the change and quickly adapted the new technology. Personality types stems from Carl Jung spend time observing personality preferences, which he later on published in his in 1921. Carl’s discovery of the two major typical differences in human psychology such as extrovert and introvert influenced Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Myers theories and lead them to experiment during World War II. Myers and Briggs worked on methods that would help women, who heretofore had no prior workplace experience, find those types of jobs that were most comfortable and effective (Myers & Myers, 1996). Having completed the Myers-Briggs Personality Test previously, I was identified as an INTP, which stands for introverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. Accordingly, this personality is often labeled as “The Architect” or “The Logician.” Despite my previous results, I repeated the test as instructed in the assignment. Consequently, based on the outcome of the test, my personality has altered in the past year. By being an INTP, I have interpreted why some things work in my favor. Being a perceiver allows me to embrace change while keeping any ill-thoughts (regarding changes I do not agree with) to myself. This personality blend, also, allows me to participate in group settings when brainstorming is needed, and having a lower preference in introversion grants me just enough patience to play along with the extroverts to complete the task. When putting two letters together, I have better understood my temperament. “Temperament arises from the regulation of arousal and emotion reliably producing characteristic, habitual responses to experience”, and mine is Intuitive Thinking (NT), so I create many options in my head (Blandin, K., February 2013, para. 4). On this basis, those who are referred to as introverts are those that have a low degree of extroversion and the same applies to extroverts. Jung also notes that the functions of sensing, feeling, thinking, and intuiting impact on the personalities of people and moderate their degrees of extroversion and introversion. Generally speaking, introverts prefer quiet environments with minimal stimulation. Introverts are more likely to experience intense stress levels that can last for a long time as they strive to figure out the possible cause of the traumatizing events. It can be difficult for introverts to accommodate other people after they are hurt and need time alone before they recover from the trauma (Jung, 2014).
We have also read some information about how Carl Jung defines personality and he uses, eight personality types based introversion as well as extroversion. Jung states that our attitudes seem to have a tendency, to behave in a certain manner. Jung believed that individuals who classify themselves as introverts place importance on their personal views of the world, while individuals who classify themselves as extroverts seem to place more importance on detachment and surrounding influences.
Within the Jung Typology Test (JTT) it states that my type of personality is introverted, sensing, feeling and judging. The results indicated I am an introvert over extrovert, the score showed 56%. There was a marginal or no preference to sensing over intuition at 1% for this result. Moderate preference to feeling over thinking at 25%, and a strong preference to judging over perceiving at 78%. So this is saying that I am an introverted sensing with extroverted feeling.

Upon taking the Myers Briggs personality test on the human metrics website I was not surprised that I received the conclusion of an ENTJ or “the natural born leader”. The role of an ENTJ is that you conduct yourself in a manner that is very logical and rational (“Personality”). Before taking the Myers-Briggs Interactive Test, I didn’t really know what to expect or what kind of questions I would be answering in order to determine what my personality type would be. Afterwards however, I wasn’t too surprised with my results of the test. Out of the sixteen different personality types, I got the INFJ personality type which simply means dominant introverted intuition. All of those letters were pretty self-explanatory and accurate according to how my temperament and personality are. The statistical conclusion was 67% introvert (I), 38% intuitive (N), 50% feeling (F), and 56% judging (J). Therefore I had a distinctive preference of introversion over extraversion, a moderate preference of intuition over sensing, a moderate preference of feeling over thinking, and a moderate preference of judging over perceiving.
