RESEARCH & FACTS
The career I researched was that of a dietician. Someone who wishes to become a dietician must first obtain a bachelor’s degree, which would be considered a minimal requirement. Most dieticians will tell you that it would be within the best interests of a student wishing to become a dietician to get a master’s degree. Dieticians must have a love for science (chemistry in particular) and algebra as these skills are practiced routinely in the profession. It would also be a good idea for someone wishing to become a dietician to take some kind of accounting or book-keeping class, as dieticians must work on and file multiple records for each of their patients.
To become a dietician you must be willing to research every day. New scientific breakthroughs are made on a regular basis that are constantly changing the shape of the practice. Dieticians must also be willing to regularly meet with patients and physicians to accurately determine if their current dietary plan is working or not and what steps they should take to reach their final goal. Hospital dieticians correspond with the kitchen staff to make sure healthy diets are supplied for each patient in the hospital, as well as on an individual level.
In a hospital environment there are typically a group of dieticians to handle all of the inpatient diets. These dieticians in turn answer to their department manager, who works under a chairman. In the dietary department there are also several filing and appointment clerks who help the dieticians to manage their work and keep them on track. These clerks are required because of the high-volume of work a hospital dietician is responsible for. Even though dieticians must regularly meet with patients and physicians, schedules for dieticians are very loose, and they can usually pick their own hours as long as they are at work for a certain amount of time each week.
Dieticians are typically very friendly and social people. In the mornings, a dietary department will usually spend an hour or so casually talking about their current cases or new dietary breakthroughs. In these sessions, dieticians will discuss important new knowledge about their field and about their patients while they drink a cup of coffee.
Dieticians will usually ge...

There are many positive reasons for me to become a dietician. As a dietician I would make a good amount of money, and could find work almost anywhere in the country. I would also be able to feed my love for science and researching skills. The only problem I could find with becoming a dietician is that I am a very mechanical person. This has been proven by the tests, but it is also backed by my own beliefs. Unfortunately, there is little hands-on physical work to be done by dietitians. Perhaps I could volunteer to rearrange the furniture once a week.
Educationally I am on the right path. In several weeks I will graduate high school with almost thirty college credit hours. I will need to take more chemistry, biology, and math classes. I plan on earning a masters degree in nutrition.
Overall, this is a very fitting choice for me. A dietitian has been something I have always wanted to become. After researching the job more and interviewing an actual dietitian, I have decided that it a sure bet for me.
Throughout this researched that I investigated I became interested in this field in a way. If I had an option in medical field I would take the option. Knowing that you are helping patients out is an amazing feeling. I would work with infants rather than adults. I would cherish every moment because you would never know if that’s the last time to work with the patient not just because of death but maybe cause they might recover from there sickness.
For this assignment I decided I would first describe to you what a typical day on the Medical Surgical floor at Decatur County Hospital looks like. As I was observing our day I was able to see a variety of nursing models all incorporated into how we provide care for our patients. Each shift has a CNL (Clinical Nurse Lead) how will be the charge nurse for the day. This person makes the assignments and is the “go to person” for any questions or concerns on the unit. Staffing for the unit typically consist of one or two R.N’s depending on our census, one CNA and one Ward Clerk. While the nurses are in report, the CNA takes vital signs and makes sure people are ready for breakfast. When breakfast arrives she delivers and sets up the trays. If the nurses are done with report they help too. In general the CNA has certain tasks that
The registered dietitian completes an assessment within 72 hours of admission and initiates appropriate intervention and goals based ion signs/symptoms of altered nutritional status to achieve desired outcomes. I have chosen to become a medical assistant as a platform to enter into the medical field. In my opinion I can fulfill the job description, I know there is a high demand for the position, and there is always room to grow on the pay scale.
I think that because this career will make me able to do same types of job as a doctor without being busy all the time. I will have some free time of my own while helping others when I am at work. This career will also provide me with a reasonable salary that is perfect for my lifestyle. Being a physician assistant will give me lots of choice on whether I want to pursue my education further or not. I always wanted a career that is in Connecticut since I do not want to go too far away from my family. By doing the research, I found out that I can attend a good Physician Assistant program in Connecticut. But, to attend a good program I need to start preparing for it early. To make this career a reality, I need to start exploring the health care profession. Volunteering in a hospital, clinic, or nursing home will help me to understand the responsibilities of a physician assistant. Also, I can ¨shadow¨ a physician assistant to better understand what it likes to be physician assistant and receive tips. I can also make my dream come true by working hard and working on my time management and study skills. This skills will help me to learn how to set aside a time to study effectively since physician assistants requires lots of studying and reading. If I stay focused and work hard toward my dream, then I believe I can become a physician assistant in the
First and foremost, an individual nurse should consider social determinants in the treatment by asking the right questions about patients’ nutritional habits. A nurse should be able to determine whether patients are able to make healthy living decisions. If not, as professionals, they should offer patients information how to get access to nutritional food by working within their financial means.
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously imagined.
In addition to learning about dietetics in a hospital, I helped organize patient charts corresponding to each dietitian on the floor and learned about the dietitians’ experience and opportunities in the dietetic profession. Because of my interest, the dietitian director offered me a catering associate job at the hospital. Being a catering associate provided hands on experience using the concepts and information I learned in my classes. As a catering associate, I prepared diets for patients according to their nutrition diagnosis and practiced customer service by interacting with patients when I delivered their foods. Because I was able to experience the business and clinical aspects of nutrition, I decided to get the foodservice experience of nutrition. Currently, I am the Student Manager Intern at Littlefield Patio Café. As a Student Manager Intern, I have created binders that are user friendly for new workers. The binders include the employees’ responsibilities, food preparations and recipes, customer service, food safety guidelines, and professionalism in the work field. This helped increase
I am inspired to explore the field of dietetics which is very broad and dietitians perform a variety of functions in their jobs. As a dietitian, I can work in a wide variety of positions such as a foodservice manager in commercial or institutional, a community nutritionist, such as the WIC and Headstart, a consultant to major food corporations such as Kelloggs and Kraft or go into sales. I am very interested in working in a position where I can help people develop habits to improve their health. I may eventually go on to graduate school to advance my knowledge of dietetics.

The health care changes for the better of the patients and how to make it better. Going to college and choosing a career may be challenging for some people who don’t know what direction they want to go in. This was me the beginning of my senior year in high school. I was in a predicament where I was not even sure if I wanted to go to college but I knew I had to do better and prove that I could do it. I have narrowed my choices down to a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and a Nutrition Science. These were the two things that interest me the most. I have always loved science and I like to know how things work so I explored the two careers and this is what I found.
Consult dietician for further assessment and recommendations regarding food planning – Rationale: Dieticians have a greater understanding of the nutritional values of food. Consulting them can aid in proper meal planning.
I want to be a food critic, this job would be interesting to do because you get to travel to a lot of places, eat food, and get paid for doing those two things. I would love to get paid while traveling and eating. To be able to be a food critic, first I would have to become a chef.
