Building on your career and or searching for a career takes time, it takes patience and it also takes a lot of preparation. Career development is about a process that you take throughout life to get you to the future you aspire for (Career Management, 2013). Knowing how to prepare and the steps to take plays a big part in finding a job that is the right fit for you. It starts with having the right tools and creating a career plan to help you achieve the job you aspire. Taking the time to do a thorough job search, building a resume, and practicing at interviewing will assist you in obtaining a position that will develop into the career that you desire.

4. What is the distance I am willing to commute?
5. Am I willing to travel?
6. How important is salary, what is my minimum salary that I can accept?
After answering these questions, this will provide you with more information to better prepare and explore careers that meet your needs. You should also consider your values, interests, skills, goals and experiences when going through the job search process, as this will help you to identify careers and industries to explore.
After performing these steps, I then utilized the “Indeed Job Search” through the CSU-Global Career Center. This was a great resource as it allowed me to do searches for operational management positions and drill down on my search by salary estimate and distance, which are both important factors t me. This was very helpful to target specific companies such as Charles Schwab to see all available management positions (see Figure 1) for my search results for potential employment opportunities.

I had started a resume from this site, about a year ago and had it reviewed. However, I went back through and looked at the various categories and updated based on what I have learned over the past year and ensuring that my resume stood out from others. I learned that the look and feel of your resume can be matched to the style of the company and by utilizing some of the other resources available on this site, such as looking at the resume tips and action verb tool list I was able to enhance my resume. I was able to add in key words which increase the chance of my resume to be selected via the key word search/electronic system. I was able to add in some additional information pertaining to experience, history, and accomplishments, as these sections can be the most important section on your resume (CSU- Global, 2017). In addition, the resume builder was very informative and provided various formats to review and sample sections to include on my resume. I found the resume builder very helpful and felt I made some good changes on my resume based off the information I read on the site or from the examples I reviewed. In addition, I learned what aspects should be listed on your cover letter, which would also help me stand out as a stronger
