Lawyer: David Baldacci once said “ As a lawyer, as a private citizen you see a lot of injustice. You see a lot of people who should have been punished and are not, and people who are wrongfully punished not vindicated. Fiction is sort of a way to set the record straight, and let people at least believe that justice can be achieved and the right outcomes can occur.” His words sum up the exact reason why I chose this career path. It is not fair that the people who get wrongfully accused of committing heinous crimes never get the help that they deserve and the people who are actually out committing the crimes get to go home and be with their families and live happy lives. I will even go as far as to say it upset me to a certain degree …show more content…
In this career it does not matter whether or not you are a man or woman since the two sexes are relatively equal in regards to how they are treated, how much they make, and what opportunities are available to them. Most firms only look at the experience that you have and any records of cases that have been tried by that individual looking for a job if there are any. The more experience that a person has the better. Interning at different firms doing various tasks associated with the job looks very good on a resume`. As far as health goes, a lawyer does not need to be healthy physically, but mentally it is a must. Since this is a challenging field one must be able to think on their feet and remember a surplus of rules and procedures. A lawyer’s personality is not the most important aspect of the job, however, it is good to have some sense of respect along with manners and communication skills for networking purposes. Networking is key in this field because if a lawyer is not able to network, it will be extremely difficult to receive promotions and other special opportunities. To get into the field you need at least 7 years of schooling after high school. In these 7 years a person needs to dedicate at least 4 years of schooling to an undergraduate program, taking classes that will prepare them for the vigorous work that will have to be …show more content…
I always found their jobs to be fascinating and very interesting. I also believe that is beneficial and rewarding because you essentially hold the key to someone’s life in your hands. Constance Baker Motley once said “ When I was 15, I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer. No one thought that this was a good idea”. Now that I am 15 years old and I have my whole life ahead of me, I have been told countless times that me becoming a lawyer is not really a good idea. I have been told to become an engineer or a doctor maybe even a cop. These are great jobs and the people that do these jobs are truly amazing, however, these jobs are simply just not for me. I rather be a lawyer because not only will I enjoy this field more than the others but I get to help people using my abilities. I want to help people the best way I can and the only way I can is by taking the skills that I have and applying them to the lawyer career
Throughout modern civilization, the American republic is widely known for its dependency upon the realm of business. Equally as vital, looms the ever-present hand of the American law system. “All beings have their laws: the Deity…man his laws” (Montesquieu,1), this statement serves true in founding that law is consistently a necessary portion in society because all society desires law. As a consequence of the continual presence of law, careers aimed to interpret the crevices of laws, and to defend them, are synonymously as necessary in society. Absolutely, the gain of America’s economy is a direct reflection of the lawyers who protect them. Lawyers are a necessity to the nation; serving their purpose as defenders of the law. The system of corporate law is undoubtedly the cornerstone of corporate finance, and as citizens begin to thrive more immensely in a capitalistic nation, legal representation will be the trailblazer to the continuation of the American system of corporations. As I embark upon the journey of excellence into the world of corporate law, I endeavor to change the way business is defended, upheld, and represented.
Love them or hate them, heroes or villains; there is no doubt that lawyers make good entertainment. The offerings of current television shows such as The Good Wife, Suits and Law and Order are evidence that legal dramas continue to be a favorite subject for pop culture media. While one can easily find hundreds of titles when searching for entertainment in the legal genre, the characterization of fictional lawyers varies widely from average decent citizens to crusading heroes on the positive side, and from mediocre drudges to corrupt, amoral villains on the negative side. The popularity of the legal drama and the potential impact has led to concern and scrutiny by the legal profession over the last few decades. One study conducted among first year law students found the prevalence of lawyers in pop culture to be so pervasive it had a significant influence on the student’s opinions of the law and lawyers (Asimow et al. 427-428). Although the study shows that for the most part this has been a positive influence, Law Professor Michael Asimow expresses concern that along with a host of other issues, a trend toward negative portrayals of lawyers could be drawing a different type of student into law careers than the positive role models that Hollywood used to promote in the “golden” days (16). Asimow also notes that most people do not have personal experience with lawyers and the legal system so their knowledge is gleaned from popular culture (7). When pop culture promotes lawyers as heroes there can be positive impact just as making them villains can have negative impact. Furthermore, unrealistic scenarios such as dramatic courtroom confessions and emphasis on forensic science can create unrealistic expectations of the viewing ...
An attorney is like any other profession, such as a doctor, mechanic, accountant, or engineer, there are good ones, and there are bad ones. With lawyers, it is extra tough for the average person to tell the difference. Also, in a civil courthouse you do not get to pick your lawyer, you take what they give you. One attorney states that "50 percent of all people engaged in litigation will end up hating, at least, two lawyers," (Case). There are the lawyers who graduated from law school, passed the Bar Exam, and are licensed to practice law in the state, but seem to have no idea how to defend a client in a criminal case at trial due to lack of experience. Some lawyers lose sight of maintaining post-conviction alternative routes for their customers. Another source agrees quotes "The reality is that prosecutorial misconduct is at least as serious a problem at the local level, where prosecutors are less well-trained" (Lindorff). Finding an experienced lawyer who is all for the client is not as easy as it seems, but they do
The paralegal field is interesting because there will never be a dull day. “The investigation and research into the background facts is my favorite part of the job. I have always loved puzzles and that 's what a case is like to me. It is interesting to start with an issue and work backward to piece together the whole picture.” Said Robin Gomez, a New Mexico litigation paralegal for thirty-three years. (Kane, n.d). Everyday there are hundreds of thousands of crimes happening in U.S. Paralegals get to look at the evidence and read over all the details of
My major is Paralegal Studies and I expect to graduate with an Associates of Arts degree in December of this year. Many years ago, as an investigator for both a private company and a county agency, I was introduced to the legal field. Recently, I was awarded the opportunity to attend college, so I decided I wanted to reenter the legal profession as a paralegal. The paralegal profession appeals to me, because I enjoy the processes of developing a case, as well as its legal aspects. A paralegal is involved in a case from the beginning to the end; from the initial client interview to assisting the attorney during the client’s trial or the settlement process. My goal is to become a paralegal for a solo practitioner or a small firm in my local area who represent clients in different areas of the law.
I think that one of the most important parts about this job it that it helps people, probably not in the way most people would like it, but it can help certain people. It helps especially in trials, when the prosecutor or defender needs evidence against the criminal to prove his or her innocence.
A great criminal defense lawyer has been through many court fights and wins. He should have learned what most juries would want to hear and know the way he should present things in a way that will be pleasing to the jury. Possessing these capabilities will take a lot of times and experiences in courts.
Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for

Attorneys ensure that society has a place to seek and obtain justice, giving confidence that restitution and retribution can occur within the law. Attorneys have a difficult job. They must know the laws like they know the back of their hands. Attorneys attend school just as long or even longer than most doctors. They have the difficult job of defending their clients or prosecuting the bad guys.
I have been interested in law ever since I was a little kid. It was not until I was in middle school did I know I wanted to go into criminal law. Criminal law has always been interesting to me because I am fighting for someone who does not have a voice. Some people might say I can do that for every other type of law, but that is not necessarily true. With criminal law there is the always the possibility that the person will end up in jail. I will be a prosecutor who is able to help get Justice for a victim, by representing the state. But before I go into a position of being a crusader of Justice for the state, I needed to know how the other side lives. The other side is the adult public defender’s office. It is their job to do what is in the
A lawyer is a person who practices law and defends people in court. In addition to that, lawyers take the problems of their clients and fix them. Lawyers have a lot of responsibility. They have to maintain respect (Clark). Gaining respect can be difficult because to gain respect you must give respect. To gain respect, lawyers will speak at conferences, teach workshops, and read online conferences that target
Paralegals are a crucial part of the criminal justice system. They are some of the hardest workers in the legal system, yet are sometimes underappreciated. It seems as though being a paralegal can stressful, exhausting, and overwhelming, but many find this worth the stress because they are challenged to solve problems, think creatively, and are making a difference and improving the lives of others. Overall, paralegals perform a range of duties that make them a vital part of the justice system, and though this job is stressful, it has benefits as well.

Being a lawyer means that there are many responsibilities to carry out. It takes a great deal of timing and patience to finish the job, which I'm sure I can handle. Being a lawyer can be a tough job to work on. All you have to do is work as much as you can to succeed on the case. A beginning lawyer makes about $25,000-$128,000 a year. (Pasternak & Thornburg page 17 and 53) Being in this profession comes with many benefits. Such as private insurance. It can either be employer-provided, group coverage, individually purchased, family coverage or Medicaid. Now in days finding the right insurance for you and your family is very difficult. Vacation wise there is no law saying an employer is mandate vacation...
