Career Influences
Thirteen years ago, my father gave me a Beagle puppy for my birthday. Now looking back I see that he had his own motives when choosing that breed of dog, because he enjoys rabbit hunting; however, I was just excited that I finally had my very own dog named Spot. From that point on I believed that I wanted to grow up and work with animals for my career. Through elementary, middle school, and high school student fill out hundreds of career papers and every single year I always said I want to be a Veterinarian when I grow up. I want to make that dream come true. I am finally at that point in my life where I can make that happen. My goal is to be a Veterinarian by the age of 26 after attending Southeast Missouri State University

I prefer to work alone to focus on the task at hand. I have a special love for animals. There are millions of people who fall in love with animals; however, these same people may not be okay with putting pets to sleep, giving them injections, or causing pain in order to clean a wound. I love pets and animals but more importantly I care deeply about their wellbeing. I am mostly interested in outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, working out, spending time with my cat and dog, and being crafty around my house. I am interested in learning more about animals and more about the advancing technology in the medical industry including Veterinary Medicine. I have certain likes and dislikes when it comes to my work place and the people that surround me. I cannot work around super talkative people or people that completely ignore me but there is a good medium. Meaningless conversation just bothers me and I lose concentration. I enjoy people that are ready to work and willing to jump in to help at any point. Organization is a must in any workplace that I am employed in. I like the medical files that are all computerized and easy to find because you know it’s all in one place. Workplaces with uplifting neutral colors that are comfortable and focused would really help everyone stick to their jobs. Most importantly I like working with …show more content…
Ringo was a horse I got from my parents when I was around 13. I was obsessed with horses and just had to have one. My dad grew up on a farm/ranch where he, his dad, and brother all used horses in order to work with their cattle and this lifestyle has always interested me. Furthermore, my cousin has also influenced me to become a Veterinarian because she also has cattle and I enjoyed going to her farm and helping her with show cattle for the county fair. She plans to go into Veterinary Technician so we both planned that I would open a Veterinary Hospital and she would be one of my head Vet Technicians. Then there is my mother, she is the one who has the backbone and the one who drives me to try my hardest and prioritize my life. She pushes me to save all my money in order to succeed for my career and try my hardest to not live in debt. Further influences that I have had throughout my life would be the recent job that I took at a Veterinary Hospital where I walk and clean up after the hospitalized pets and pets that are boarding. Besides doing the lower work I get to sit in on surgery and restrain pets during their vaccinations and nail trims. It is amazing experience and makes me even more motivated to work harder towards my career to be a Veterinarian by age
I am extremely interested in pursuing my life career as a veterinary technician because I believe any animal’s welfare and stability is just as important as a human being’s. I absolutely...
I am a biology and chemistry major at Harford Community College and am working to obtain an associate of science degree in biology and chemistry- calculus based physics from HCC. My plan is to transfer to the University of Maryland and study Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine with the goal of entering Veterinary School. I have been working towards veterinary school since I was fourteen years old. My passion for the subject began while I was working at Olney Farm, a horse farm in Fallston, MD. I began horseback riding at ten-years old and started volunteering at the farm within five months of my first lesson. I was homeschooled; therefore, I could get to the barn before all the other children got out of school. I learned how to retrieve the horses from their fields, groom them, and get them ready for the lessons for that day. Eventually, I performed these tasks for eight lessons a week. I enjoyed observing the various behaviors of the horses, administering special diets to specific horses, treating their surface wounds, and carrying out general tasks to maintain the horses’ health. This is when my desire for veterinary medicine began.
Many people have lost their pets and close family members because there is no way to get the help or medical attention that the animal so desperately needed. Every day in the United States, veterinarians are working hard to save animal’s lives. People will always continue to want and to breed pets. Therefore, to help and cure all these pets, a steady stream of veterinarians will be needed for many years to come. Over the years, the requirements and processes to becoming a veterinarian have changed. To become a successful veterinarian one must complete all necessary education and on the job training, be friendly and love animals, and have a burning passion to help both the pet and the pet owner.
When I was a child most of school was always based on what you wanted to be. Constantly I was being asked what I wanted to become, I had always answered with a careless answer that every adult expected. I honestly had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. Soon as I moved through middle school and now going through high school I became interested in the medical field. With my passion for animals and always wanting to help them, I soon realized what I wanted to specialize in. I am interested in pursuing a career in veterinary the reason I would like to make my plan concur because I want to improve animal 's health, perform operations to cure them and possibly help them stay healthier for a much longer period. Veterinarians are always doing
I can 't recall when I realized both my parents were veterinarians. Their work was simply a part of my life and brought me exciting and wondrous moments such as holding a newborn puppy after a tough delivery or seeing the outcome of a difficult surgery. I grew up on a ranch with many animals, large and small. Numerous other animals were brought home for either treatment or to be fostered while finding a home. My first real job was working summers at my parent’s animal hospital. I always assumed having and caring for animals was normal. In retrospect, I was incredibly lucky to have had such unique opportunities to experience veterinary medicine first hand under my parents guidance.
In one way or another, I have been taking care of animals my entire life. Growing up, I was completely dedicated to animals, caring for what could be considered a mini zoo. Naturally, as a child, I was set on a career as a veterinarian. Like most children, I was naive about the veterinary profession, but I had plenty of people to warn me about its challenges. Albeit initially discouraged from becoming a veterinarian, my search for a meaningful career not only revived my spark for veterinary medicine but also gave me the maturity and experience necessary to succeed in it.
When I was a freshman in High school, my relatives asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I didn't know, I had no clue what I was going to be. Now in 12th grade I'm sure what I want to do. When I graduate I plan on going on to college and becoming a Vet assistant. I love animals, and grew up on a farm. I’ve always had animals around me, either just cats around the barn, or my late horse that was named Shadow that I loved. So becoming a vet would be a great idea for me. There was at least Michigan State University, a big place to go where it is very expensive. There are other smaller places like North Eastern Michigan, or Olivet. ACC even could be a great place to start off at.
In ten years I see myself still in college working to become a veterinarian. I do not know what college I would hope to be at ,but that I am out of regular college and just starting veterinarian school. I won’t have a career just yet ,but possibly a side job of a waitress and volunteering at the humane society once a week. My goal is very important to me because I love helping animals and I to try my best doing so. My dog means the world to me and I would want the best work done on her if something bad happened to her. The satisfaction of my career would be to care for the animals in need and successfully helping the animals. School now can help reach my long term goal because math and science plays a big part in becoming a veterinarian I also
Reflecting over those days, I learned the importance of responsibility, hard work, and caring for something other than myself. From caring for my animals, I learned the true essence of each animal, and their life cycle that includes everything from their early morning routines, cleaning the animal stalls, the grooming for the upcoming show, and paying the bills for vaccinations and dental procedures. Also, I learned how animals can become your best friend.
I have been passionate about animals since I was little, I have dedicated my time to having them in my life. I have over 300 shadowing hours at a veterinary clinic, along with caring for my dogs, cats, and my bearded dragon. I also have been working since I was 16 in order to care for my animals, and help save for my college tuition while at the same time going to high school. Everyone has their struggles in high school, and it is okay to ask for help. I have had to several times, either from teachers, or fellow student tutors. It is from them that I progressed in my struggles and moved on. Even today, from what I have been through in high school, I help my younger siblings with their homework and teach them what I have been taught from high school and tutors, and I plan to carry these with me to college.
I feel like I am so close to getting it, and yet I realize I have a long path ahead of me still. No matter how much I want to I can’t forget the reality of the cost. Even though there is nothing more I want in the world than to become a vet, it would be incredibly irresponsible to dig a debt that substantial. For that reason it is more likely I will end up working towards being a veterinary technician instead of a doctor. As much as this may pain me, I will still be in the same field and working with the same animals that I would have if I was a veterinary doctor. I will still have all the similar experiences, simply from a different view point. Being behind the scalpel was never a huge attractive factor
The veterinary field is one that has different types of work associated with it. For instance, one may take samples and the other would do x-rays. I have always wanted to become a vet tech because i have always grown up around animals and grown to love them. It would be a great opportunity to wake up everyday and do what i love. It seems like it would be a great choice for me because my heart is for animals. I have always loved animals and it would break my heart to see them hurt so this would be a great job that will suit me in many ways and i know i would enjoy working there. There isn 't anything that i wouldn 't want to do besides work on animals. In this speech, i will outline the job description, preparation and advantages/disadvantages
My interest in veterinary medicine began at a young age, playing doctor with stuffed animals and using bobby pins as “shots”. As I grew older my days spent riding and caring for horses at the barn played a role in my love for animals and their care. I often came out to the barn for visits from the veterinarian and I played an active role in the horses’ care and upkeep. I found that I loved learning about lameness and how you can detect the slightest problem by studying a horse’s movements.
Some of the personal characteristic is that you have to be nice and calm to your clients. Also, you need to have a good relationship with animals. I think this job will be interesting for me because I love animals and I've grown up with them my whole life and I just feel like I have a connection with them. The training you have to have is at least an Associate's degree. A specific school that you can go to is Ivy Tech.
Vets have a good sense of problem solving, and this fits my personality. I know that if I pursue this career as a Veterinarian I will enjoy working everyday. I am good at solving problems and investigating what the source of the problem is, I can apply this knowledge to helping animal’s health. I’ve always liked playing with animals and taking care of them whenever they need help. This has always been an interest to me, and it brings me joy whenever I can help the animals in any way possible. Just last week my dog was shaking and his eyes were swollen. My mom came to me first for help, she knows that I am good with dogs. I covered his eyes and put warm blankets around him, and he was back to normal in thirty minutes.
