Writers for magazines should have a vivid variety of interests, have good researching skills and need to be very coherent. Freelance writers can write for many magazines and prefer to write on various topics. The key here is that the writer should know the market to which the article is being written. Most magazines focus on a particular niche. Some might be related to women’s issues or to health or politics or sports or even pets. So, you should determine to which all niches you can work. Magazine editors also look for a specific style of writing and would check whether you have an established set of readers. A writer who is into copy writing can also have a lucrative career if you stick with it. A copywriter should be able to put forth a concise summary which is convincing and hooks the reader. Copywriters can find work with front pages of web sites, book coves, sales letters, etc. A copy writer should be able to highlight the work with just a bunch of words. A writer with persuasive skills and who can command the attention of the reader would make a rewarding career in this field.

The other important work which writers do is proofreading. A proofreader is the one behind an impeccable published material. They check for the spelling, manuscript omissions, and formatting of an article. They should have flawless grammar and also have the capability to check to minute details. Proofreaders find work in editing web content, brochures or any articles which requires an expert for checking errors. A writer can also go into the field of ghostwriting. A successful ghostwriter should be able to work under deadlines and should have a good judgment. The only problem of choosing ghostwriting as a career is that some people might not find it creatively simulating. However, it should be noted that this does generate a good income and the network formed during your ghostwriting career might be very important for the future. The other challenge which a ghostwriter has to face is that you would have to work in your client’s style and the thought that even though you get paid for writing, your name would not come anywhere when the article is published.
