862 Words2 Pages

A big question asked amongst people sometimes is “Can a teenager make a difference, and if they do is it positive?” a lot of people just brush it off sometimes and think that because they’re young and don’t have the same experience as some older people, they are bound to make mistakes. This is not always the case, as some teens can make a difference, whether it be in large scale that affects the world or in a smaller scale affecting the community or society. There are a couple kids that have make a difference, although some of the things they have done might be greater compared to others, they still have made a difference in where they live and the people in their communities. One example of a teen who made a difference is is Adin Lykken. Adin made woofin and hoofin which was a 5k race for people and their pets. It was made to gain money to be donated to pet shelters and to stop animal cruelty. Adin always loved pets and hated animal cruelty too, so he put both of them together to try to stop cats, dogs, and other animals from being abused. It is $25 for runners and $20 for people running with their pets. The event has raised $16,000 dollars for Friends of Dupage county animal care and control. This shows that you can make a community better just by doing little things which might grow big in the future! (Hanc). Savannah Bukant is another great example of a teen who has made a difference. When Savannah was a senior in high school in Vancouver, Washington, she was troubled with the task of finishing a community experience project. Savannah had a love for orphans and she turned that love into a charity to help raise money for orphans in Ethiopia. The amount of money Savannah had to raised seemed almost impossible in... ... middle of paper ... ...er countries. Anything and everything that is done, big or small, makes a difference. It could range from making a 5k to speaking in front of crowds. Works Cited ABC News. 2013 ABC News Internet Ventures, 15 Mar. 2007. Web. 4 Nov. 2013. . Crow, Mandy, ed.
