There are diverse embodiments of counterfeit science, cheap science, and deviant science. Over time, mankind has seen the rise and fall of various scientific fields of study. However, none ever seem to vanish completely. Humanity’s views of the flat earth, astrology, crop circles, ancient astronauts, and perpetual motion continue to gain advocates even today. These are compelling paradigms of how human beings possess the ability to hold on to various forms of reasoning without any use of appurtenant evidence. With that being said, the matter of intelligent design and its counterparts, Darwinism, evolution and creationism, are noteworthy topics to discuss.
For centuries, there have existed two major rival conjectures surrounding the causation of life in the universe: evolution and creationism. The concepts of evolution give the world of science a basic inference on how the cosmos came into existence. Creationism offered a plethora of religions an explanation as to how the universe came about. These two concepts on the beginnings of life once stood alone as concrete explanations of creation for quite some time, nevertheless, the idea of intelligent design appeared. What exactly is intelligent design? What is being claimed? These are all questions that often come to mind when the topic of intelligent design is proposed. According to William A. Dembski, author of the book, Intelligent Design, “intelligent design is three things: a scientific research program that investigates the effects of intelligent causes; an intellectual movement that challenges Darwinism and its naturalistic legacy; and a way of understanding divine action” (13). Intelligent design for this reason traverses empiricism and theism (Dembski, 13). The claims that a...

Intelligent Design: The Best of Both Theories Essays

- The argument has been going on for years and years. Should schools be allowed to teach evolution without teaching creationism. The courts have ruled, the answer is no, the theory of creationism cannot be included in a public school’s academic curriculum. With the court’s decision, it has been made clear there is no place for faith based theories to be taught in our public schools. Essay on Evolution and Intelligent Design in Schools

- The education that provides future generations with the most accurate explanation of reality in light of evidence should, naturally, be required by all curriculums. The debate between proponents of Evolution and those in favor of Intelligent Design, a component of Creationism, have battled over which model should be taught in schools across the country. Intelligent Design Essay

- Intelligent design theory makes the claim that due to the irreducible complexity of some biological elements, a designer must be responsible for creating these elements in their present form. Intelligent design proponents claim that their theory has no religious motives, is purely scientific in nature, and that it answers questions that the theory of evolution fails to explain. Proponents further assert that intelligent design should be taught as an alternative to the theory of evolution in science classrooms....   [tags: Biology]
