Cowgirl Chocolates have struggled to achieve probability and a growth in sales with it being in the business for four years thus far. What has kept her business afloat has been the success of the positioning of some of the locations of her chocolates, but while those were successful she has had a hard time expanding outside of Moscow. It is hard to find Cowgirl Chocolate customers because of the odd mixture of hot and spicy taste with chocolate. You have to be craving something very different to want to try this product. This has placed her products into the specialty foods category. I feel as though with the “tough” cowgirl or cowboy picture in the company logo it draws more men to try it then women. The statistics for the market show that men prefer hot and spicy taste rather than women. Something else that would draw men to the tryout the company would be the company logo, “Sissies Stay Away,” because they would be it as a challenge. Which means it might push women away from trying it because they might think it is too spicy for them.
When next to other chocolates on the shelf Cowgirl Chocolates tin might seem smaller than the competitions tin and for a higher price which may then steer the customer to choose the other tin of chocolates. Cowgirl Chocolates prices are close to competitors or a tad bit higher, but offer smaller packaging compared to other specialty chocolate companies. Which customers could buy the chocolates and see that the chocolate is filled to the lid and could possibly feel satisfied that they have gotten their money’s worth, or like previously stated above could see the difference in the tin sizes and price and choose the other chocolates. Something else I think that would help to increase business is to put their website address on their tins that hold their chocolate and their packages. This would draw customers to their website to see what else the company has to offers like their different products and flavors and too also see more information about the company. Another idea that Marilyn could do is maybe put a few recipes on the website for the visitors to try out or maybe have a mailing list where they can receive recipes through an e-mail. Maybe even if they had a mailing list have an offer for about 10% their first purchase if they signed up for the mailing list.
