I have heard about an episode of bullying myself. My friend back in elementary school was telling me how she witnessed her friend being bullied almost every day during school. The victim was a young boy who was teased about the way he stuttered and was shoved around after class for raising his hand. This went on for about a whole school year until I was told that he finally stood up for himself. He told a counselor what was going on and what he had been through. The counselor immediately told the principle and action was taken. This resulted in a school wide intervention. Fortunately, this young boy was brave enough to stand up for himself and seek out help. Unfortunately, this is not the case for everyone.
Bullying often occurs amongst children and teens. This supports the fact that bullying occurs most in a school setting among peers. Current research from StopBullying.gov indicates that as many as 80 percent of adolescents reported being bullied during their school years, 90 percent of 4th through 8th graders report being victims, 15 percent of students bully regularly, and it also sadly indicates that 71 percent of the teachers or other ...

...gy here that could decrease the incidence of bullying is intervention. Lack of intervention can give the idea that bullying is acceptable and that it will continue to be ignored. The goal in mind is to make everyone more aware of the cause and effect of bullying, how to handle it and how to prevent it from happening again. These nonviolent strategies can be applied to anyone’s school if the student body, along with the authorities of the school is willing and open to make a change.
Creating and participating in programs, clubs, and small groups that promote nonviolent strategies can bring students together through of different races, ethnicities, morals, and ideas. The collaboration of their ideas and opinions about bullying can have an impact on the school. In the end, if we really commit, we can achieve togetherness, equality and among all things, peace.
