Kids will be kids! We all hear may parents express this quote. Well, what if the kid that receiving the name calling is a different type of kid. What if this kid is depressed, shy, withdrawn? What if this child grows up with the burden of remembering all the hurt that other kids put on him or her and carries that weight into adulthood? These are the questions that we should ask ourselves when we talk to other parents, and trying to respectfully find a solution to the bully of children in the school system.
Time and technology has changed over the years; bullying have evolved with the changing technology as well. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the parents that defend their children by making excuses or not acknowledging the bad behavior.

In my opinion bullying is a form of harassment by making fun or physically attacking someone based on race, religion, sexual orientation, wealth status, rumors, and many more. Bullying has also taken on a form of social media. Social media have tortured many kids and with many kids have taken their lives before they have even started. I could find an article by Pacer. It lists ways to effectively reach your child if you child is the bully. Sometimes children do not realize the impact of the things they say. They are not even realizing that they are bullies. Sometimes a simple conversation can make a child realizes what exactly bulling means. Explore the reason of your child’s behavior. They themselves may have been a result of being bullying. Take action, to let children know that it will not be tolerated for any reason at all. Even though there are several reason the most important one in my opinion and is teach your child empathy, love, and compassion. (pacer 2015) Also we need to be made aware of what children are doing on social media. They need to be taught the importance of being responsible and what they say about people publicly can last a long time on the person they hurt.
If bullying is failed to be recognized it will only get worse before it gets better. The advancing technology is allowing many children to bully others. Becoming someone’s personal punching bag and constantly being called inappropriate names is not something that is ideal, especially in high school. Bullying is a very well known issue around the world, but not everyone is willing to put the effort into solving the problem. There are many different ways of bullying, in several grade levels, workplaces, online, and much more but today’s main focus is in high school. Although, not all things you do, can stop it. To end bullying, everyone needs to come together as a community, to get their word out and make the bullies realize what they are doing. Although there are hundreds of methods to address bullying in high schools, the best solution includes a community effort that incorporates knowing when someone is being bullied, creating an identity safe climate where all people are respected, and encouraging people to be an upstander.
In school you probably remember the “odd-balls” being picked on by the “cool kids”. Maybe they were being called offensive names or were being laughed at because of something they liked, if they looked or acted a certain way. Or possibly it was because of their religion. The truth of the matter is, people will use just about any reason to bully and use different methods when bullying. Questions that rise is what kind of bullying is there? Bullying by definition is a form of aggressive behavior in which someone intentionally and repeatedly causes another person injury or discomfort. Bullying can take the form of physical contact, words or more subtle actions. [Why] Bullying has grown new outlets over the last decade. With social media outlets and text messaging added to the game, bullying is not just about getting tormented face to face anymore. Cyber bullying can include sending out mean or threatening emails and instant messages about a person, spreading rumors about someone and also include photos that a person would consider to be humiliating. [Chamberlin] Bullying can have many outlets. The most common form of bullying is still face to face confrontation. But the other outlets, such as cyber bullying are definitely not something to take lightly or consider low on a scale of importance. Sexual harassment, racial differences, not being “cool enough”, or just simply being viewed as a weaker individual may attribute to many of the reasons a person is preyed on.

Although bullying continues to be an issue in our society, but mainly in schools, all we can do is keep educating kids on what is right and wrong, letting them know the consequences of their actions both to its victim and to themselves. Bullying is a repeated harmful act that continues to affect millions of students every year. There is no stereotypical person that is a target for bullying; anyone can be its victim. There may not always be any signs of physical harm during these attacks, but our children always suffer emotional harm. Educating students, teachers and parents seems to be the only valid solution to this problem. There are many organizations that can educate the schools on this subject but for it to work people must care. Maybe one day, when enough people realize that this problem will not go away with out their help, we can eliminate bullying from our schools. Bullying against teens is still happening even though there are various awareness programs to try to prevent it. I want to create awareness of bullying against teens of all religions, race, and sexual orientation. Even with the various attention to bullying, the problem still persists despite the school providing awareness, students are still afraid to say anything. Societal patterns today make bullying a difficult issue to eliminate. Starting in 2007, a total of 35 states made laws to go against bullying at school. These laws consisted of a clear definition of bullying, and how schools will be required to enforce uniform standards of conduct. The reason bullying comes as such an issue to me is because I actually know friends that have been suicidal and have caused themselves harm due to being bullied every day, in school and at home.
Problems usually have solutions. Solutions could be extremely easy to find, or the process of finding one could be problematic. One worldly issue that does not have a solution yet is bullying. Bullying is present in schools world-wide, and it has been this way since there have been schools. This horrible act is accepted as part of life. People are used to bullying, that it almost seems normal. This should not be the case. Bullying is a horrific act that needs to be stopped, but is that possible? Three specific ways people have proposed to stop bullying is to criminalize bully in an attempt to deter any further bullying, to assign bullies student mentors in order to have someone guide them, or to force school or parental figures to be more active in trying to prevent bullying. We all know what it is, and we know it’s not a good thing. Bullying has been around for ages, and has gotten worse as time has progressed. With all the technology the world has today, bullying is not only occurring at school and work, but online as well. Most individuals try to ignore a bully, but sometimes ignoring it makes the situation even worse. Bullying is a serious subject that needs to be looked at more. Individuals are being affected by bullying in a negative way, causing a lowering of self-esteem, depression and sometimes even suicide.
