Being harassed can have major outcomes to a person that many people may not even be aware of here on campus. Bullying and harassment at schools and social media can have the same impact to one person. Harassment comes in many different levels, but one that most people do not pay attention to is through social media. Today, social media has shaped many lives in the wrong perspective. Teenagers want to believe that social media is more important than life itself for example, wanting to change for what other people say is perfect. People do not realize the real harm it can do to a person. Reading a story about a young girl named Amanda Todd shows what great of an impact it can do to one person. Mostly every teenager at high school is associated with social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Many stories have shown of what decisions people make because of the comments being made on a daily basis. As many people have noticed, one comment can lead to it being viral on social media. When this occurs, it makes the person not want to come to school which leads to a question if schools should get involved in cases such as these. Schools do not know when to intervene in a situation such as bullying or harassment on social media because it is outside of school and it is not the problem of the school to deal with it. Harassment lowers people’s self esteem even if it is through social media because everyone has access to the internet. It is an intoxicating thing to even be on the internet because of what great damage it can do to a single person.
When being harassed, it makes the person being harassed not feel comfortable in school and not want to even focus on what is being taught. High school is a place where it is suppose to...

The cause of trolling is a way that schools have the right to get involved and can lead to the person being suspended or expelled. An idea that schools can use is if students use the schools wifi would be that staff members or police officers on campus should be able to monitor the students actions before it gets out of hand and something worse happens. The handbook of MHS does not clarify the definition of harassment so it is best to add new regulations for future situations. Seeing what happened to not just Amanda Todd, but many other high school students should be a wake up call to high schools around the world to change the code of conduct to better the regulations of schools. Order at schools is what needs to happen to create peace within students.
