Panay Island is an island in Asia situated in the Philippines famous for constituting the beach capital of the world - Boracay Island.
Boracay Island is located off the northwest corner of Panay in Region VI of the Philippines. The island is approximately seven kilometers long, looking like a stretched dog-bone shaped with the narrowest spot being less than one kilometer wide.
It has been written that its history prior to its discovery by the outside world remained well kept and well guarded. The Native Islanders and Atis lived together privately and in harmony in the island. Lord of the Flies takes place on an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean. The Island is likely near or on the Equator because the type of vegetation that grows on the Island indicates that the Island is of a tropical kind. The boys discover this Island while on a plane that crashes and the boys find shelter on the Island. The Island has no human inhabitants on it besides the boys and its main inhabitants are pigs. The Island’s landscape includes a jungle, a forest, a mountain, and a small lagoon. On one side of the Island, there is a coral reef and the deep blue ocean and on the other side, it is riddled with rocks and more of the deep blue ocean. There is also a very large rock that appears a bit detached from the island and this is where Jack sets up his headquarters towards the end of the book. The Galapagos Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean with a chain that stretches as far as 220 kilometers from the most northern to the most southern island. This archipelago of volcanic islands is positioned in a way where some islands are found north of the Equator and others are found south of the Equator. There is even one island, Volcan Wolf, which is positioned directly on the equatorial line. The Galapagos has absolutely no indigenous population, and those 25,000 citizens that do live there now speak primarily Spanish. There are a total of 18 main islands, 3 small islands, and 107 islets (very small islands).

On November 19, 1493 Ponce de Leon was one of the first Europeans to see the small island of Borinquen, the Indian name for Puerto Rico. Ponce de Leon sailed to Puerto Rico in 1506 with two hundred men to the island and found out that it had rich gold deposits. He enslaved the natives, and forced them to mine gold for him. Ponce de Leon left Puerto Rico and returned again in 1508 this time he brought with him only fifty men. On this voyage his ship went through a terrible storm that caused him to run onto the rocks on two occasions. The crew was forced to throw over much of their supplies in order to keep the ship from sinking. After Ponce de Leon finally arrived in Puerto Rico he became the governor of the island. This caused him to become very wealthy, and the most powerful man on the island, who only received orders from the kind himself!

To know what it was we got our weapons ready just in case. Soon finding out that they were natives we talked to them about how we came here and we found out they were very friendly. We traded our treasures with the natives and they gave us more than we could ask for. They gave us many treasures, including gold nugget necklaces and and hammocks for us to bring back to our homes.
