Always Running is a novel which is referred to as Always Running: La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A. This book was published in 1993. The author of the book is Luis J. Rodriguez who is a Mexican-American poet and memoirist who has written short stories, children novels and adult novels. Nonetheless, his self-consciousness still persisted and was notably revealed when it came to social intercourse with others outside his close group of friends, especially females, in the Tribe. Rodriguez tells about one incident were a group of Tribe members went to the beach. While others did very easy at approaching the girls in the group, Luis was too shy to talk the girl he liked. When the guys started to tease the girls by throwing them into the waves, Luis did not participate and just watched; even though he was respected as a member of the gang, he still had inner inhibitions that discouraged him from participating in the social activities.

Despite the efforts of the community to make the ranch feel like home, Josey struggles with this transition. It is too similar to the life he once had. Josey tries to adjust to this community, however, he is reminded of his family and his untimate pursit of vengeance agaist the men who killed his family. Josey recognizes that this ranch is a symbol of a new life, but in order to enjoy this he must first take of what is important to him. Josey is a wanted man and the longer he lingers around this community without killing off those men after him, he puts their life in danger. This is one of many honorable acts of Josey. He knows that he man not live on to see the further development of his new community, but he is still willing to fight for the sake of avenging his family and saving their lives.
In the film A Better Life , Carlos and Luis do not have a healthy father and son relationship,but that changes when Carlos truck get stolen. Luis is on a path to become a gangster since mostly alone and free to do as he pleases. Because Carlos is working hard everyday to provide for his son, he does not get the chance to be with him nor does he have the strength to stay awake once he gets home which can be very harsh to Luis since they don’t communicate.
