“The best education you can get is to watch the masters at work.” Michael Jackson was the biggest pop star ever! He had become a superstar since he was little. He had many great songs throughout his career. He had become an instant star!

Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. He was born into an African American working class family. His mom and dad were Katherine and Joseph Jackson. Joseph put aside his music to provide for the family. He knew his sons had talents so he molded them into a singing group in the early 1960’s.

They are known as the Jackson 5. Michael joined the group when he was five and he became the groups lead vocalist. He impressed the audience with his young age, voice, and dance moves. At first they played local gigs, but then went on to open up for people like James Brown. They relocated to Los Angeles and they started to work on their music and dancing with their father as manager. They lived with Supremes Diana Ross when they first arrived. August 1969, the Jackson 5 was introduced to the music industry at a special event. Later they served as the opening act for the Supremes. Their first hit single “I Want You Back,” hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1970. More hit singles quickly followed.

At the age of 13, Jackson launched a solo career in addition to the Jackson 5. Despite Jackson’s individual achievements and the group’s success, there was trouble between the Jackson’s recording companies. Michael vowed the world with his next solo album Off The Wall. ...e his comeback tour. On June 25, 2009, he suffered cardiac arrest in his Los Angeles home. He was rushed to the hospital after his heart stopped and many failed CPR attempts. He passed away later that morning; he was 50 years old at the time of his death. News of his death resulted in an outpouring of public grief and sympathy. Memorials to Jackson were erected around the world. The Jackson family held a funeral on September 3, 2009. A film was made with the preparations of Jackson’s last tour; This Is It hit the theaters October of 2009. The film featured a compilation of interviews, rehearsals, and backstage footage. This Is It would go to make more than $260.8 million worldwide. It became the top grossing documentary of all time.
