Bilingual education has been used in many ways and different countries. In the US, however, it can be more specific and complex. It is the way their native languages are used by English language learners for instruction. There are many views concerning bilingualism. This paper outlines different views people have on this type of program. From personal views, pros and cons, the positive or negative outcomes, and the overall different perspectives people have in bilingual education.





















A student is sitting at the back of a traditional 3rd-grade classroom isolated, quiet, he rapidly walks out of class at the end of the day. He tries to avoid any contact with teacher or classmates. What is he thinking, what is going through his mind? The student has just arrived from a Latin country. “I feel as if I were deaf or blind I am totally lost I don’t want to go to school anymore”? He cries to his parents. Although he was very bright academically in his country, the language barriers the student is facing is affecting, his passion for school, emotional, and social development. A child should not feel this when trying to learn or get an education. The United States is a county where many come to fulfill their dreams, a country of opportunity. It is not fair for a child to feel this way in the US or any other country in in the world when trying to learn.
When a student enters school and their first language is not English it can be a great challenge. Whether the students are born Americans and come from a home where their primary language is not English, or if they arrive in the United States from another country. However, we do know our future relies on our children. It is better to give the students the tools needed to make them strong, capable and prosperous. English speaking children should also be given an opportunity or choice to learn another language. As parents, teachers, and members of society we should all work together to promote equality learning achievement for students with diverse cultural, racial, and linguistic backgrounds. We should all take in consideration where we live. We live in a rich multicultural, global society and should respect all diversity. It is a benefit for all and overall would make us a stronger state and nation, we should all take advantage of this.
