The Big Five traits of personality are broad dimensions of individual’s personality in psychological field. These traits are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (Cobb-Clark & Schurer, 2012).
Accuracy of Results
I strongly believe that my results of Big Five Personality test are accurate. Pertaining to the five personality traits, the test showed that I posses 53% extrovert personality, 62% conscientiousness, 48% neuroticism, 34% agreeableness, and 15% openness. As the greater percentage is of conscientiousness, it held utterly true as I am an orderly person and is hard-working individual. I merely do not like to seek new experiences which might be the reason I am workaholic. Conclusively, my opinion about the Big Five Personality trait is that they are most important measures through which individual’s personality can be determined.
Opinion of Usefulness of OCEAN
Personality traits tend to represent the tendencies and preferences instead of exact predictors of the behavior. As motivation is considered as the complex interaction of an individuals in addition to his environment, personality traits presents the only part of the overall picture. The Big Five Personality traits are helpful in characterizing the two significant aspects of interpersonal and individual behavior. These are emotional intelligence and motivation.
In today’s global environment, personality traits have become more popular in personal assessment and recruitment. ...Fourth, agreeableness individuals are mostly co-operative and tend to avoid conflict that is they are not argumentative. This trait is most important at work and is most useful in jobs that directly involve customers. Lastly, a person having neuroticism trait is capable of experiencing the negative traits such as anxiety, anger, or guilt etc. In organization, this trait predicts job performance of an employee.
It is concluded that the emergence of Big Five Personality traits has offered valuable insights about individual’s behavior in general setting as well as in organization setting. However, the component missing in these traits is related to culture. Culture did not appear to be a distinguishing factor among these personality traits. It is significant to include this component as today’s organizations are becoming global which hires global workforce.
