This belief leads many Christians to fall into the deception that they need to choose between faith or learning. There is a need for a balance between the two. Faith without reason is nothing more than childish, while science without religion is meaningless. This essay will dive into what faith is and what the relationship between faith and learning looks like. According to Miriam-Webster, faith is complete trust in something or someone. The purpose of this class is to delve into some of the harder questions based in theology. While there is no solid answer to questions about theology, THEO 2100 prepares the students at NNU to answer some of the harder things about our faith. As it pertains to this question about learning and faith, THEO 2100 teaches students that one of the main ways to strengthen their faith is to talk about, discuss, and learn from other students. In this class, students learn the basics of what Nazarenes believe, the core Christian stances and what NNU specifically holds true. However, due to the unanswerable questions that theology poses, students must learn on top of gathering evidence how to defend a stance that may not be right, but that they believe is right.
