Introduction
It is a very well-known fact that there is a fine line between education and success. Success is a word that is very loosely defined, but is normally associated with education in a very simplistic way. In most cases, people put success and education in the same sentence with the traditional association of attending a college or university, graduating with a degree and moving forward with a career choice. But what happens when education and success are associated in a different, much more complex way? What happens when there is a negative association between education and success?

But there is always one key component in the debates and discussions that is always the toot of the problem. The problem always comes down to finance. Finance is the key component because there are many surface level issues that stem from money and the way that is it earned and the way that it is handled.
This issue beg the questions “is there a difference between education and business?” and if so “What is an acceptable business/financial structure?” for example, the structure of a private business or corporation is to have people invest in a company and become shareholders. At the end of a term, shareholders receive a dividend based on their stake and the profitability of the company.
This is the normal business structure and the financial planning of this type of business is influenced by “profit driven” results. It is a private business model with the goal of maximizing revenue. Eerily similar is the structure for the for-profit institution. With a financial plan for maximizing revenues, one must ask the purpose of this structure from an educational institution. This brings us to the debate of education’s ethical standards. Is the business type structure of for-profit institutions morally ethical and if so, where is the divide?
Ethics in Business and
The Code of Ethic for the Education Profession does not just involve the schools staff with its student but with everyone that is involved with the school. A quote from the first code “educator values the worth and dignity of every person” (1), to be an educator one has to keep their colleges, boss, parents, student and community in mind. To be in the education profession one is signing up to be a trustworthy, knowledgeable, devoted, and understanding individual. They must guarantee equal opportunities for everyone. Their primary concern is to their students learning and potential. One has to “sustain the highest degree of ethical conduct” (1).
These beliefs are shaped by learning experiences throughout their lives. Often leaders must choose to follow their own moral code or abide by the school district policies. Excellent educational leaders can find a balance to which they are most comfortable upholding personally and professionally. The ethics of caring can take into consideration intrapersonal relationships and decisions based on emotion. According to Turner (2006), for-profit institutions are more responsive to the changes in the external environment and are able to capitalize on new opportunities. The growth among for-profit institutions can be attributed to their ability for geographic variation and catering to the need of non-traditional students for increased educational access. The geographic variation references the inability of non-for-profit educational institutions to adjust to changes in state, regional, and local demand due to political and social forces. For-profits' flexibility in their governance structure, sensitivity to market conditions, and the ability to generate investment capital through public and private means allow them to establish themselves in new and emerging markets regardless of career and location. Also, for-profit institutions are able to conceptualize the geographic boundaries of education that constrain traditional educational institutions. Business has been in charge of the upgraded innovation that has generally supplanted the drudgery of most physical work, an outcome in part of the innovativeness of business and its readiness to take and bear the weight of money related hazard. Besides, maybe no establishment in our regular life is more proficient in its operations and more discerning in its association than business. No foundation is more receptive to the requests of its constituents than business.
My philosophy of success, is me growing into the person I want to become and being comfortable with the choices I decide to make in life. Success is not something I can achieve overnight, it’s something I must plan for then proceed to working hard for it as well. Without hard work, there isn’t anything successful about the job I want to get done or the job I wish to get done. Doing anything without hard work and dedication, and expecting the best outcome is not success; it’s mediocrity. Being mediocre/ will only allow me or anyone else to have a ‘Victim’s Mindset.’

This further fulfills the idea of being a “successful” person. Success should be measured by your own standards, not others. What makes your life successful and happy will not be the same for others, as theirs won’t be the dame for you. Being successful, and educated, all really revolve around how you view yourself, and what you choose to do and make with your life and the circumstances you’ve been given and have taken control of it.
Socioeconomic status can be defined in terms of family wealth and assets as well as educational background. For this reason, many comparisons can be made between socioeconomic status and education. Furthermore, academic achievement and the level of education reached by an individual, is determined by socioeconomic status. Research has shown that environmental circumstances and family issues greatly influence a child's future because the impact of the socioeconomic status depends on the level to which an individual becomes successful in life. Research also shows that family conditions can impact a child’s education and their quality of life. Education gives people the competence and skills to pilot the world. It also allows people to provide and contribute to their society and community. Like Nelson Mandela said “ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. Similar to our lives, our educational journeys are different from one another. My educational journey was a very complicated journey. My family and mentors supported me, so was able to overcome those obstacles. The biggest motivation that got me through this journey was my father’s courage and love for education.
Academic success is becoming increasingly important in today’s society because most occupations now require a degree of some kind before a job applicant will even be considered. The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
“The failure is the mother of success” this Chinese quote said that failure is not the end. Failure is where people learn from their mistake. People cannot be successful all the time. Indeed, there are many people who learned from their failures before being successful. Each failure that people had met is a helpful lesson and valuable experience to help them become a better person.
I believe that hard work is the real treasure of a person because without hard work we cannot achieve our dreams and goals in life. No one can achieve success without doing hard work. It starts when we stop looking for alternatives or shortcuts towards success. We need to remember that there are no short cuts to success. Hard work, complimented with an intense desire to struggle and to achieve success is the only sure way of reaching success that you have always wanted.
