By applying research from cloning normal cells to cloning stem cells, a wider range of people can be helped, and the cost of procedures will be lowered. Scientific research into cloning will allow doctors study how to safely replicate stem cells. Effective stem cells will save countless of lives, since they can grow into any type of cell needed. Stem cells can heal parts of damaged organs and bones, a valuable medical treatment for those injured in accidents or for those suffering from cancer. According to Dr. Rudolf Jaenish, a biology professor at the Massachusetts Institution of Technology, “an embryonic stem cell thus derived would be ‘customized’ to the needs of the patient who had served as the nuclear donor” (1). Healthcare and hospital bills are very expensive, and if cloning technology is more widely used and easier to access, the price of surviving will decrease. If more people are open to the idea of research of human cloning, then more grants will be given to the scientists developing human cloning techniques. The scientists will then sell their technology at a lower price, allowing patients with lower incomes to stop being discriminated against.
