Vegetarianism
Everything that we as humans decide to do has a consequence. Our agency that we are given opens up so many opportunities of lifestyles we are able to live. Many people search for the “perfect lifestyle” that has all the right answers and gives the perfect insight as to what is right and what is wrong. Although the perfect lifestyle seems great, it does not exist. There is not one single answer to everyone’s problems and life answers simply because every being on the planet is different. One way of living may be perfect for Betty Sue, but quite unsatisfactory for Jim Bob. It is very important that we make smart choices and are informed and know the facts about the lifestyles we choose to live. Being a vegetarian is a lifestyle that many people choose to live and pursue. The reasons behind choosing this style may vary person to person, but no matter what the reason is, it is important to be informed about all the pros and cons of being a vegetarian in order to obtain the optimal health possible while living this lifestyle. Overall, being a vegetarian can be extremely beneficial in the following ways:
“According to the USDA and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, meat is not an essential part of a healthy diet” (Pros and Cons of Vegetarianism) One beneficial factor to eating a plant based diet is being introduced to new food and new ways to provide the daily essential dietary need that need to be met in order to be healthy. The amount of daily protein needed can be attained through vegetables. Beans and lentils can also be eaten to provide protein to the body. It is possible to receive amino acids from a plant based diet; however, it may take more than one serving to receive dietary guidelines for how much you are supposed to eat. Meat also provides the healthy saturated fats that the body needs. There are many people in the world that would testify that living a vegetarian lifestyle is the true way to live, however there are also just as many that would absolutely say otherwise. The fact that we as humans have the agency to choose is incredible. It opens up so many different possibilities and ways of living. There is not a “perfect lifestyle” for everyone simply because of human diversity. One thing that is very important, is that we are informed about the lifestyles we choose and know both the advantages and disadvantages that go along with it.
