Introduction Not too far in the distant past having a college education was a rarity. Now it is becoming less of a rarity and more of the norm. In today’s society, it becomes more beneficial for you to have a college education. College is something that doesn 't have to be for everyone and there are some great ways for individuals to pursue a decent career and still earn enough money to make a living. If you’re willing to put in the time, effort, and money to pursue a college education then you will most certainly reap all of the many benefits it has to offer. There would be a higher cost involved with obtaining a college degree versus having a high school education; however, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Some non-monetary benefits would include, “better working conditions, lower rates of disability, and increased civic engagement,” (Long, ). Investing in your future and furthering your education is something that will greatly benefit you in the long run. Having lower unemployment rates, better access to health care which in turn would indicate you are overall healthier, and earning more money are significant reasons why a …show more content…

This can be an outstanding benefit because you will be able to network with these people throughout your professional career. You will obtain lifelong friends, and this isn 't to say that you won’t gain friends in high school as well; however you won’t utilize the people you meet in high school in as much of a professional way as you would the people you meet in college.
