There numerous ways to study nowadays and way to memories or how to learn for everyone. It can be easier for ones or hard for others, some students like to study alone other like groups either way can be good or bad. That why their advantage and disadvantage to study alone vs. studying in group. There no good or bad answers since everyone has their own opinion about what work best with each one. The only way to discover the best method for you is to try both and see which one work the best.
The pro to study alone allows you to decrease the change of getting distracted by making you to focus more on what you really need more help working on your own pace. Example: Laura has a test on Wednesday of medical terminology and is already Tuesday,

The downside of this is that you can get distracted in a group versus alone. I can go on and on saying good thing about one and the other, but the bad site is catch up for each one. As you can see comparing this too team would give a lot to think, for example I prefer to study alone for the test because I can focus on what I need, but when I get stuck with a problem there no one to help me and when I get in a group I don 't work that fast and I still can learn a few things but in some point we all change our topic to something not related at all to the homework. Not saying that I choose to study alone or in groups just explaining you what I really think of this two. Everyone is allowed to express their opinion agreeing or disagreeing between the pro and con in the study alone vs. in group. Despite of what has more good than bad is always the student choice and how he feels more connected. I can say is good to studying alone because of this and that or go for the studying in group and say my main points, but to be honest, it can also be a mix of both depending on what you need more focus and who are you study whit. This two side can turn into a debate why one is better that the other but to be genuine either one is good and bad. It all depends in
Study groups can help students to study and receive high grades, because college classes are definitely more difficult than high school classes. Students might have more freedom and time to finish the corresponding work, but at the same time professors expect more from students. Many professors would expect you to have all the time in the world to finish up your work. High school to College is a big milestone in student’s life, because they are required to learn to manage their own time; to find what the best schedule is for themselves. During the two week course, we’ve talked so much about the transitioning into college. All those mental preparations is to ensure students are able to handle college work, by focus on time management, class scheduling, and procrastination. Transitioning to college from high school it’s almost just like middle school to high school, more expectations from teachers, AP classes, and tier schedule. If something was not handled correctly, grades will start to drop, and when students’ grades drop it can lead to high level of stress; high level of stress lead to lower grade, and it will continue the ban wagon. To maintain grades high, students should schedule enough resting time, so when they are in class; they are able to pay attention. Students should also never miss any classes, because they can miss a lots of information in one day. These are
At times I prefer to work alone such as tasks that have deadlines or papers, but on projects or things that require multiple parts I enjoy working in a group. Working alone tends to keep me more focused but when working in a group it is beneficial because there are different ideas from each person which could give a better outcome. I think it is important to be a person who can do both group work and work alone.
In the Philippines, nursing is a four year course. I have to do lots of assessments that include research studies and case presentations. It will be easier and faster if those assessments were done in groups. For instance, before graduating, we have to passed in a thesis assessment. I was assigned to be the leader of my group and I distributed task equally. I believe with my approach and having spirit of team work makes our work easier, because we have an equal participation level, open channel of communication and it encourages verbalisation of concern and equal decision making which our marks resulted with
As for my own personal preference of working may not apply to others because everyone has different ways to study and work. I prefer to work independently and in solitude were no one can bother me, and all the resources I need are available nearby myself. At home in my room is a perfect example because it’s a place where I feel safe, with minimal distractions, and also I know where to get all the needed materials or supplements for myself. As a learner there are also certain types of conditions that I enjoy or dislike. The types of teaching strategies that get me in the mood to learn is that if the teacher knows the material and how to teach it, makes the room a friendly environment, takes times to work independently with students if needed, and also keeps their calm whenever a situation arises. The types of teaching strategies that I dislike are presentations, because it forces students to teach the other students and really, students don’t really learn anything at all or even pay attention it’s a waste of time. When teachers call on students who are not paying attention or not e...
The different types of techniques we learned had helped improve our studying ways to be better and more efficient. One of my studying techniques is through body movement. I learn through body movement to help me retain most of the information I took from my classes. This helps benefits my grade by if a test is coming up, I know the study techniques I need to apply. However, I have to manage time through the day in order for me to study.
The disadvantages in individual learning is the student may have a difficulty when he works in groups or when using cooperative learning, because the student usually work by him or herself. The student also became more competitive in group grading
There is numerous literature available which suggests the benefits of working in groups, and there are a number of aspects that can affect group performance for example cohesion, Group member diversity, social facilitation, task type, and group motivation, however for the purpose of this essay I am going to focus on team skills training. ‘Teams skills’ are the ‘collective qualities that are instrumental to an effective team environment and overall success’ (Tenenbaum & Eklund, 2007) If we take the phrase ‘team skill’ to mean, as defined by (Pritchard, Stratford & Bizo, 2006 p.256) as ‘’the skill to work collaboratively together in order that group based activities enhance, rather than impede learning’’ then ‘team skills training’, is the necessary training in orders to enhance this. Group performance refers to the measurement of group behaviour; this can be good or bad. Within this essay I will critically discuss the advantages and disadvantages of such training, in relation to group performance, including reference to its effect on collaborative learning and groups in educational settings as well as the effects on memory and experience of workload.
Have a place separate and quiet to concentrate and study, visit libraries, research on the internet and writing are some of the study habits that prepare the young to perform well in college. Much has to do with their parents, to motivate them to develop these habits.
...earch for the topic and apply effective techniques to get the result. Moreover it gives an opportunity for students to solve the problem by a healthy discussion and co-operation. This is what we call 'group discussions' which motivates the students to perform in a team, show leadership skills and enhances the presentation capabilities as well. Benefits of using collaborative processes are not limited to the college classroom, but applicable to real-world.
Building self-esteem, enhancing student satisfaction with the learning experience, and promoting a positive attitude toward the subject matter are all benefits of collaborative learning. A higher degree of accomplishment takes place as a group because you essentially are a team. An example of this is a sports team. In a collaborative situation it takes every member to do his or her part in order for a situation to have a greater resolution; as where a sports team needs everybody’s individual talent to win a game. In retrospect, as a group; the contributions of our own talents can make the difference between a “win or Lose situation” it gives you a sense of competition, and knowing that you can win as a group; self esteem in one’s self is accentuated. Johnson and Johnson (1989), Slavin (1967). Another benefit to collaborative learning is based on the members of your group. Every individual in the group demonstrates their own input based on where they were born, what nationality they are so on and so on. The benefit of this is that you get a different perspective on things rather than always knowing what you know. You can take information from other cultures and add or apply it to what you already know.
I seem to learn better when I constantly read over the material I am studying. This allows the material to constantly be running in my mind. I am a person who will read or hear something and it usually sticks with me. I really haven 't had to study for long periods of time, because I usually remember the topic of what were being tested on pretty easily. I have also learned that I am more of a hands on person. I can learn things very quickly by putting them into action. Somehow that makes it click in my mind and helps me learn it. Mainly the study habits I can improve on is procrastination. This is usually hurts me the most. I will wait
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
My goal as a teacher is to improve my student’s education and help them grow knowledgably. I like to see students at different levels develop with each other and learn. I want to challenge the students and watch them grow to their highest level of education. Therefore, having the students in groups is the best educational strategy I like to use a lot. I want my students to have freedom with whatever creativity they want, and to allow them to express themselves at any time. With this freedom students will be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and be able to figure their weaknesses and strengths. Education is for everyone and it’s a right by low for all; teachers, on the other hand, should do their jobs very honestly and effectively.
