Being a teacher is a profession that I always have adored and admired because teachers were like the second mothers that I interacted with for 180 days out of the year. When I was a little kid, while other kids were playing house and doctor, I was creating a classroom filled with my own ideas and concepts. I would create my own rules and expectations for the students (stuffed animals) that set foot in my classroom. As I grew older, I found myself teaching my peers information that they didn’t understand in elementary and middle school. Consequently, my love for the teaching profession began to steadily flourish as I progressed through school. Many teachers wouldn’t engage with students and feed them below average worksheets and grades just to pass them by. I disliked seeing my peers struggle to understand and comprehend the material because the teacher wasn’t there to teach the future, they were there to get a paycheck. With those peers, I became their unlicensed teacher because I felt they were trying to understand the content and pass the assignments, but they didn’t have anyone to explain it to them on their comprehension levels. Seeing the actions of those teachers set a burning passion to change the environment of that classroom and let learning flourish. Furthermore, I found myself despising the way the teachers just pushed the students along as if this wouldn’t fail them when they attempt to write a paper for a professor in a higher learning environment. This inspired me to change those low standards and push the students to have high expectations of their selves based on the standards I would set for
The main reason I would like to become a teacher is the love for little kids. I really enjoy being around children. After teaching Sunday School to children up to 8 years of age for over five years, I feel that I can relate to them and connect with them very well. I also feel that students look up to teachers, so they are a very big influence on the children's’ lives. I would love to know that I could make such a big influence on a child’s life. In my opinion teachers have an impact on the life of every student they ever have in class.
I think that I have always wanted to be a teacher. Being the eldest of four children, I have always enjoyed being that helping hand and using my talents and abilities to help others. In the remainder of this essay, I will explore how my personal background, development as an individual over time, and how experiences as a student have influenced my attitude towards education and prompted me to choose teaching as a profession.
I am an African American female who attends the University of Chicago Charter School, which is located on the South side of Chicago. I am seventeen years old and I live and attend school in a predominantly Black neighborhood. I have seen plenty in my seventeen years of living. My goal is to go to college and become a teacher, so that I can return to Chicago and help the people in my community. In six years, I will be giving back to the community and helping the world become better place. I will help teach kids not to live in stereotypes and let them bring them down.
As a child playing school with the neighborhood children, I had always dreamed of becoming a teacher. Since the first day of kindergarten, watching the teacher teach us how to do basic things like counting, writing, and reading is what interested me in teaching. Throughout my elementary and secondary education I became even more interested in the teaching field. I thought that being a teacher would be the best thing in the world because a teacher has an immense amount of knowledge. Now I am in college where I am currently studying to be a secondary mathematics teacher. There are several reasons why I want to become a teacher, but the two most important reasons are to make a difference and to enrich the learning process.
Coming to the America, my love of mathematics thrived and bore a multitude of fruits. My career journey began at a young age of seven years old, living in the Catholic dormitory of the Notre Dame monastery. The school provided the opportunities to develop the love of learning and eventually the joy of teaching math in my heart, so I liked to study math. In the school year 2017, I became a teacher’s assistant at Yorba Middle School, and because of this, I should go for a teaching credential of a California state university.
Every year I have had a teacher who has always went that extra mile to make sure I thoroughly understood each and every lesson. For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a teacher; I want to be like all those teachers who helped me through the years.
Kids walking the halls! Sophomores lost, Freshman too! Looking for their class. Students complaining about how “summer was too short.” When seeking a career as a teacher, a person should look at aspects such as one’s responsibilities, necessary skills, work conditions, salary, and its prospect, but even more importantly is to prepare oneself properly by attending The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB) that will offer the best training possible.
Growing up school was very hard for me. I always struggled with reading, writing, and math and because of this I lacked confidence in myself. I had many great educators who helped me push through my learning disabilities and become the confident student I am today. The struggles I faced in school have made me realize how important a positive and thriving classroom is. This experience made me want to be an elementary education teacher because I believe that instilling confidence, and helping students learn to grow and never give up on themselves, is fundamental at a young age. My passion for children continued as I found ways to volunteer in classrooms.
In my life, my favorite teachers were always the ones who taught lessons inside and outside the classroom. They taught us about our past, our language and the world around us for tests and quizzes while also teaching us how to navigate through life with their lessons that weren’t needed for our grades. For me, I wanted to be that kind of person. I knew I wanted to help others when they needed help, and I knew I wanted to do that as a teacher.
Being a teacher is a noble cause, though it also seems to be the dream of idiots and morons. It is a job where you work constantly and are always told what to teach. You are expected to teach to a standardized test. It is a job path that only the bravest take. The people who claim that those who can’t do teach, know nothing about teaching or how hard it is to teach. Especially high school students who have no desire to learn. Children in their last required chapter in their education. Their young pubescent minds focused more on the opposite sex over their grades. How do you teach such a difficult age group? How do you keep them engaged? Especially with a subject that so many find boring and tedious, English and English literature.
Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.

I have always been grateful to my mom (who is a retired teacher) for implanting values in me. I feel I should contribute what I have learned and experienced over the years. This way I will be paying back and at the same time can fulfill my desire of enhancing the education system.”
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
The first main reason that I have chosen teaching as a profession is because I believe that it’s continuous rewards will help me to lead a happy and fulfilled life. For example, teaching young children is one of the few jobs in which you can give and receive hugs on a daily basis. Children have an innocence and a passion for knowledge that I find amazing and I do not feel complete unless I am around them. Teaching will help provide this fulfillment for me every day. Also, teaching is a job in which it is ok, and even encouraged, to laugh each and every day. I feel that this is important for a person’s well-being and I think that it helps to keep people young and alive. I feel that in many other professions the day-to-day routine would become monotonous and boring, and I do not think that I would live a truly happy and fulfilled life unless I could be around children. I feel that a classroom provides many unique and dynamic opportunities every single day and I find that very appealing. Also, I am a very relationship-oriented person and I feel that I will enjoy building unique relationships with each child. I plan on knowing every child as thoroughly as possible because I feel that this will help me to be better at my job.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
