BEHAVIOR EXPLANATION # 1 1. Behavior Observation/Description (5 pts) On August 16, 2014, my three best friends: Annel, her boyfriend Kevin, and Jada called me around noon to let me know that they will swing by my house to kidnap me to go to Santa Monica Beach. Once we got there, we were all amazed at how the beach was crowded and filled with people. This is the first sign of my worry for Annel because she is clumsy and would easily get lost, not to mention she is diabetic and can faint in this heat. I tried to have fun with all of them but also tried to keep an eye on her at the same time. Her phone and Jada’s were dead at the time so she wanted to use mine to take pictures. The main plan for that day was to rent two tandem bikes to ride along the beach shore. As we’re all walking on the pier to look for the bike shop, somehow we got separated. Jada was with me and her phone was dead so either of us can’t call Annel or Kevin. Jada and I then stroll back and forth on the pier to look for them but there was no luck. As we’re walking hastily, I panicked because I don’t know what could have happened to her or Kevin at this crowded beach and her mom trusted her safety to me; …show more content…
They were shocked and scared at the same time. After the moment of my aggression toward them, I just walked ahead of my three best friends. While walking alone, I thought back about my recent action and felt like a jerk because I just embarrassed and mistreated them in front of the crowd. I should have remained calm and approached the situation professionally. Meanwhile, as they catch up to me, I apologize to them and asked to resume with the mission of finding the bike shop. They told me they understood the reason for my madness because I was worried so they put that past them. After the talked, we all moved on and had fun for the whole duration of the day as we’re biking at the
During the human life, people experience grief, however, people choose to cope with their grief in various ways. Many talks to a family member, sleep or allow themselves to be sad to relieve the pain. When Tracy K. Smith’s (U.S. poet laureate) father passed, she believed that therapy would help heal her heartache. Years after Smith’s therapy sessions, she wrote “Savior Machine.” She clarifies at a common read at Southeastern Louisiana University, that it is “a poem about feeling freed to look at my life in a clear-eyed way” (Smith). In portions of her poem she also explains how the sessions enhance her acceptance of her father’s death. “Savior Machine,” allows her readers to view the results of her therapy and it reveals that she receives more
After reading the article, I learned the difference between high and low self-monitor as well as the traits. The trait of self-monitor includes an individual regulating their behavior to accommodate their surrounding in any events. For example, one might strategize and be observed in social events to fit in the situation. There are two type of self-monitor high and low monitors. Each have their own traits. High self-monitors will change their opinion or belief so they can adapt to their surroundings. I believe this is what make a good actor or trail lawyers as the article describe as well. Which completely make sense now, a trial lawyer will need to manage his internal feelings so it will not interfere with his external situation which for him will be a court
There are many things to learn from this article written by Donald Baer, Montrose Wolf, and Todd Risley. It is a very informing article in which you can learn about the current dimensions of applied behavior analysis. The seven dimensions mentioned are: applied, behavioral, analytic, technological, conceptually systematic, effective, and generality.
Behaviorism is a branch of psychology that has a theoretical approach that gives emphasis to the study of behavior in place of the subject of the mind or the physiological correlates of one's behavior. Behavior is the externally visible response to a stimulus of an animal or human (Weidman). B.F. Skinner is one of the most prominent psychologists of the study of behaviorism. Skinner was on the advance of behaviorism. B.F. Skinner created a group of theories that set out to prove that subjective impetus is not what behavior in humans and animals is so much based on but that behavior is more based on possible reward received and chastisement applied to the animal or human (Newsmakers). Skinner entered into the branch of behaviorism in the 1920s. Behaviorism was still a fairly new branch to psychology at this time. However, Skinner's experiments in his libratory were broadly consideration to be electrifying and ground-breaking, illuminating an knowledge of human behavior and logistics (Newsmakers). Skinner called such behavior based on possible reward received and chastisement that was followed by the repetition of that behavior operant.
I started to walk across the street to my friend Lacey’s house. Lacey lives just outside Detroit, but like my family, her family comes to the cape for the summer. Our families’ have been friends for about 10 years, but we normally don’t see or talk to each other during the year, only summertime seems to bring us together. Traditionally Lacey and I leave for the beach together, even at age 7 we walked with our mothers, so I knew I had to tell her about this errand before I left for town.
By using observation method, a wide variety of behavior can be recorded. Picking through the garbage on the side of the road can reveal behaviors of fast-food customers, or sitting for only one hour in the university canteen can understand the gender differences in choosing (diet) meal, or even watching the customer’s behavior from deciding which yogurt to be taken off its store shelves in the supermarket can also answer the question: Are the customers be attracted by its appearance or flavor or price or brand or nutrition? The aim of this observation assignment is to evaluate and explain the different types of interactions between individual and groups present, as well as the environment in which these interactions take place. The field observation was conducted at the Vietnamese fast-food restaurant named “We love Banhmi” in Budapest, and the role adopted, was that of observer as a non-participant. Group structures as well as overall activity, patterns of behavior, and the duration and timing of such behaviors and interactions were observed and recorded. Sociological concepts pertaining to age, gender, and appearance were also noted and applied.
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I write to you today to express my intentions towards my future endeavors once graduating from your humble establishment with a degree in applied behavioral analysis. My intentions are to graduate from Saint Joseph 's University with a degree in applied behavioral analysis, then to proceed onto the next step in my career as a behavior specialist councilor, where I can help families through creating concrete goals and plans and models to measure these goals, as well as to ensure that parents are supplied with the resources required and an efficient team to help them.
When children are exposed to discriminative behaviour at school, they become withdrawn and not valued. This theory centres on the behaviour and actions of the social environment children are exposed to at school. The most noted discriminative behaviours children are confronted with are a negative demeanour towards gender, culture, skin colour, dress and appearance. However, with a positive environment of acceptance for all people from an early age, children learn to value and respect themselves and each other.
In this essay, we have been asked to evaluate two psychological perspectives’ in relation to “typical behaviour”. The perspectives I have chosen is the behaviourist and biological approach, to be able analyse these approaches, I have decide to use the case study of the death of the two year old ‘James Bulger’ and with this, the relevant therapy’s used by each perspective.
... once I entered the locations to start my observations, I was surprised they were all pretty busy. Though the observations seemed easy, in reality, they were more difficult to conduct. This is because there were a lot of people consuming alcohol, which often made it difficult to constantly remain in visual contact.
Behaviorism is a foundational theory in the world of psychology. However, behaviorism though it was a flourishing influential idea during the beginnings of psychology, it suffered a decline when other aspects of scientific research entered the psychology practice. Behaviorism was the scientific study of behavior. A plethora of great thinkers have made their marks with discoveries in behaviorism but B.F. Skinner was one of the most influential thinkers during the decline of behaviorism and the rise of experimental psychology.
Part of the college experience is getting to live in a residence hall with a roommate. My roommate is a friend from my hometown, Tori, who I’ve known since elementary school. I love Tori, but I hate that she leaves her textbooks and notebooks all over our room. The books trip me in the mornings, make our room look dirty, and leave me little room to do my own homework or walk throughout the room. I understand the behavior if she’s working on the homework at the time, however, she leaves her books out even when she’s out of the room. This behavior didn’t start immediately upon us arriving at Iowa, it started about two weeks into the first semester. Tori got busy, and stopped prioritizing keeping the room tidy.
Applied behavior Analysis (ABA) is the scientific application of set principals of operant behavior that branch off of the behaviorism philosophical approach of behavior. The core principals of Applied Behavior Analysis are to target an individual’s behavior for change that has a real life application for the individual. Moreover, of Applied Behavior Analysis seeks to discover the environmental variables that influence the individual behavior while simultaneously demonstrates a functional relationship between the manipulated environmental behavior and the target behavior.
The police officer took us down to the station and detained us. We were not there because we were the altercation starters. The reason they took us up there, was due to Monticello’s curfew. We had no idea they had a curfew, and we were well over the eleven p.m. curfew now due to the delay. We were all minors and we needed a parent pick up. “How was I going to explain this to my mother?” I thought to myself. I am supposed to be at my friend's house, spending the night… like I told
In the field of psychology many models have approached metal illness from different perspectives. Psychologists use models to depict or explain things that cannot be perceive. Psychologists use these models in order to explain, comprehend and treat mental illness. These models include the behavioral model, the psychodynamic model and the humanistic model. All of these models approach and explain mental illness from different perspectives.
