Becoming a Successful Nurse
“We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves”(Romans 15:1). But who is strong and who is weak? To become a successful nurse one must obtain a degree and licensure; acknowledge the duties that are in a hospital and, qualities that all nurses should have.
In order to become a nurse one must have gone to elementary school and high school. After graduated from high school, a university or college must be attended. An associate’s degree is earned when attending a college or university for two years. A bachelor’s degree is earned for four years of schooling (“Nursing School”,2015). Skills that weren’t taught to a nurse can be learned thru the years of hard work. A quality that must be learned that many people lack is patience. Discipline creates better patience, which makes the environment controllable for everyone and comforting for those who are in need of help. There will be times when the pressure is on the nurse to work faster and harder and this leaves no room for any mistakes because there are human lives in the hands of other humans who can cure and help them in their time of need. Good communication is another skill that is learned on the job and not in the classroom. If there is no communication, then there is a lack, of services to the patient. Nurses need to be able to communicate with the doctors and patients to keep a healthy environment for them. An environment in a hospital is about teamwork and not about who can be greater than the other. It’s about who will stick out to do their best for the good of the people (“McAllister”, 2011).
To become a successful nurse one must obtain a degree and licensure; acknowledge the duties that are in a hospital and, qualities that all nurses should have. I believe that becoming a successful nurse you need all the degrees, duties, qualities, but most importantly love for what you do. She has worked in the health care for more than four years. My first day I got to meet the entire crew that works at the heath center. There are four doctors that work at Adelante Healthcare. Each doctor has different section some are for adults and children. On my visits I was assigned to a different person every time. My first day of shadowing I observation Diana Penina, she works in the pediatric section. While following her through the day she met with children from all ages. Their parents brought them in for ether checkups or concerns. When the patient was brought into the room there weight, temperature, and a checking of the ears were done to make sure that there was not an infection. Once that was done, they were then asked about why there were visiting that day. After they have been checked the information was then entered into a computer and sent over to the doctor. My second visit I was mentored by Angel Mrjases, he works with the adult section. When shadowing Angel, I was able to help him enter the weight, temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate that he was taken into the computer. That day there were checkups and concern patients about their health. While following my mentor I also saw how shots were given and what steps had to be taken before starting. I also saw how to clean an ear, when it has been irritated by earwax. I also saw how to check for high or low sugar. That day we
