The Bead Bar needs to be able to communicate online with their customers. The Bead bar does not want to offer beads online for the simple fact that customers will be more likely to make the beads at home. Another problem is that the Bead bar needs more customers to come into the store and they are afraid if they go online customers will not come in to the store at all. This will eventually hurt the bead bar’s business. The Bead bar needs a way to be able to by online without customers buying the beads online. These problems need to be resolved. The Bead Bar has to go through the seven standard developmental life cycles for a computer to become successful e –business. The first cycle of the process is planning, systems analysis, systems design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance.
The Bead bar has an e-business set up. They work with cruise ships and the e – business with help Jim the Human resources representative to be able to hire other employees. The e – business will help Jim with services like Employease to handle benefits for the employees. The bead bar can offer PayPal and electronic checks for when a customer buys jewelry. The e – business will help to pay bill online and this will make ordering new beads and other supplies easier.
The bead bar will be able to send out a newsletter via email. They can create a customer notification page so when the bead bar gets new jewelry, they can notify the customers. The Bead bar can show customers that can access their online store, different designs of jewelry.
Planning has to be done before anything else can be done. The Bead Bar has to plan for tasks to go wrong. Recommendations for the Bead Bar would be that they start the e-business. It would be easier to sell jewelry online, because more people are will to buy products online instead of shopping in a store. People do not have the time to shop in a store anymore. Another recommendation would be that the Bead bar make examples of their products online and sell them at the store. When people do have time to shop they can coming to the store and already have an idea about what they want. Bead Bar should make sure that what they have online is what they have in the store.
Cynthia also has an opportunity to expand the line of jewelry. Right now this is an area that is very strong and if it continues to grow it will help to make the company an even stronger competitor in the industry. At the very beginning they exploited the offerings of the Yahoo Store. However, continuing down this avenue of using the services of the Yahoo Store inevitably became too costly. By using the services and business offerings of a vendor made it convenient and effortless for Jim and Candy to start their e-business store. Unfortunately the couple did not have much in the way of professional help, and so they had to create and put together the website by themselves. Additionally they also had to deal with establishing their online credibility as many customers preferred to call in their orders just to talk with a real person before being comfortable enough to place their orders via the webpage.
