As soon as I knew that we would have to write a faculty interview paper and preferably talk to someone associated with are major, I knew exactly who I wanted to interview. This semester I am taking Entomology 218 or introduction to forensics. There are two instructors for the class and I chose Patrick Jones. This decision was easy to make, because the first day of class, Patrick had said that he was a retired police officer and had done a lot of different work in that area. After I knew this I was immediately intrigued and wanted to know more about him. When I remembered our assignment was to interview a teacher, I thought he would be perfect.
When I met with Patrick I was nervous , but as soon as I walked into the room I knew that that was not going to be an issue. From the moment I walked into the room, his bubbly outgoing personality would make anyone feel comfortable. The first set of questions, I asked were ones related to his past schooling and experience. He told me that right after high school, he went straight into the marines. After he returned, he went to Pacific Western to receive his undergraduate degree. While in school, he did not have time to be involved with any clubs or associations, because he was going to night school. This is what most law enforcement used to do in the time period between high school and graduating college. With this he became a police officer. He mentioned that from childhood all he always knew he wanted to become involved with law enforcement and also to be able to find or accomplish things that no one else has done.
Although his first job was being a police officer, he has had an array of different professions. After being a police officer, he became an undercover detective for five...

...ed to learn Spanish and minor in psychology and forensics. As for class to take, he suggested to take anthropology, sociology, criminalistics, and to continue with entomology. Patrick also said, If I was interested, enrolling in the army would be a good move and if I choose to do this, that he could introduce me to some people.
My interview was very informative and helpful in aiding my decision of proceeding with my current major and career choice. I am glad that I had the chance to sit and talk to someone that can help me with my future and furthermore to give an insight into the reality of the job and its consequences and benefits. It really gave me a clear perspective into what I am going to need to accomplish in the short and long run. In the process of this interview, I got to meet and become friends with someone that could hopefully become a mentor to me.

- If I was to choose any career, I would want to be a college art professor. An art professor teaches college students how to express them selves in a preferred medium such as painting or sculpting.
