They have a tendency to rely on others for endorsement, acknowledgment and choice making. The healthier alternative is to recognize that though you are part of the family unit you are your own person. healthy people learn to differentiate themselves from the family system. Hones situation with differentiating at the self is quite different, because he and his dad have a bad relationship he can not rely on his father.
