Putting in golf can cause many golfers stress and can keep them away from their dreams of becoming a professional. Golfers search all year long for a new and better way to improve the part of their game they struggle with the most. The anchored putter (A putter that attaches to the chest or the stomach of the golfer and does not freely swing) has been a huge success in the game of golf for the past 50 years and continues to help grow the game because of the confidence it gives to golfers. The United States Golf Association (USGA) and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R&A) proposed to ban the anchored putter from professional competitions and in the future for all amateurs wanting to use an anchored putter. Confidence while putting in golf is always one of the hardest assets to consistently maintain during each round of the year. Hot streaks while putting makes the game more fun because you can make better scores when this occurs. If the anchored putter helps a golfer obtain more hot streaks and improved putting. If the anchored putter is helping golfers to improve their confidence why would they ban it. The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, Golf is doing everything to get people to enjoy the game, but this is not doing that, he said. Golf needs a boost for positive expression and this, to me, is like taking a divot out of someone 's forehead. They can make all the justifications in the world for anchoring. That 's just trying to justify a stupid decision, in my opinion (“Golf bans,”2013).
