Bad Breath Don’t you just hate it when you’re talking to someone with bad breath but you feel too awkward to say that their breath stinks? Although dental hygiene is important, there are other reasons why you might have bad breath, in medical terms called halitosis. Sometimes you might not even notice that your breath reeks but there are easy ways to test and cure bad breath. Ways to Test for Bad Breath Testing for bad breath is a simple thing to do that takes a small amount of time with little items needed. For example, you can test by licking the back of your hand. Let it dry and try smelling that for any obnoxious scent (“How do I tell…”). If at any time you might acquire a spoon maybe after you are done eating, you can use that to test your breath as well. If in need for a test for bad breath, just simply scrape the back of your tongue, pull it out, and see what if it smells (“How…”). If the spoon smells, your breath smells, it is as easy as that! If you are willing to look into it more scientifically, scientists use a device called a Halimeter (“How…”). To test your breath, the device samples it through a straw and gets calculated. If the levels get above a certain number, then your breath is unpleasant. This is the most accurate way to test your breath. Example of a Halimeter is found on Figure 1.
