The Babysitting Experience Early into December, I finished the first semester of the school year and was looking forward to the holiday break that laid ahead. Although, with Christmas three and a-half weeks away, I still didn’t save up the amount of money I planned no spend on gifts for the holidays. Struggling to reach my goal, I began to look for alternatives to a traditional job. In order to earn the money in record time, I needed to be determined, even if my options were limited. With that in mind I asked my friends and mom if they knew of anybody looking for an occasional babysitter. A week had passed and I was beginning to lose hope, but then one afternoon my mom came to me with good news about the job hunt. “I told your cousin, Maddison, …show more content…
“I brought over some food, the kids diapers, and sippy cups,” Maddison said as she set down her travel bag on the kitchen counter, “They’ll be shy at first until they become comfortable, just turn on cartoons and they’ll just sit there.” The range of advice Maddison gave me on how to deal with the kids made me feel more at ease; however, none of which prepared me for the day that laid ahead. The day was off to a shaky start and within minutes the movie I put on the TV began to go unnoticed. Paxton fell into the dog’s water dish, drenching his only pair of pants. On the other hand, Everlee was coloring at the coffee table contently. Within minutes I was learning just how whimsical toddlers can be. The amount energy between Paxton and Everlee seemed to be perennial, but after a couple of hours of playing in the front yard with my cats and running amuck they finally seemed to be settling down. With this in mind, I brought the kids inside, popped a movie into the DVD player and began to set the mood for nap time. Everlee was the first to fall fast asleep, moreover, with her chips in her lap and head turned towards the ceiling. As fast as Everlee fell asleep, I hoped Paxton would follow in suit, but as the time passed I came to the conclusion that he wasn’t ever going to nap. I felt relieved during the hours when Everlee was asleep and Paxton was as calm as he’d been all …show more content…
All I got in response was fiercer crying and knew Paxton was well past reasoning. At my side Everlee was indifferent to the situation as she toyed along while I brought her and her wailing brother back into the house. As my babysitting gig came to an end I found myself comforted by the thought of handing the kids over to their mother. When Maddison came and knocked on the door at the end of the day, I felt my stress dissipate because as much as I loved babysitting Everlee and Paxton, the best part of my day was when I was the lot of them drove away. The well-earned stillness and solitude surrounded me like a warm blanket. Reflecting back on the day, I enjoyed babysitting Everlee and Paxton, and even though periodically I felt like quitting, I didn’t, I persevered through the day and earned enough money to buy meaningful gifts for the holidays. The day was behind me and I felt accomplished and
Often, childcare costs may exceed low-wage earners ' income, making work, especially in a job with no potential for advancement, an economically illogical activity. In 30 Days one of Morgan’s co-worker had four kids, whereas he had none, and he is supporting them on the same minimum wage. However, some single parents are able to rely on their social networks to provide free or below-market-cost childcare. There are also some free childcare options provided by the government, such as the Head Start Program. However, low-wage jobs force workers to accept irregular schedules for these free options, only which are available during certain hours, which can limit parents ' ability to take jobs that require late-night shifts. In which in this situation, it causes it to be even more difficult for a single low wage parent to receive free childcare. In fact, some employers will not hire someone unless they have "open availability," which means being available to work any time, any day. This makes it difficult for workers to arrange for childcare and to take on a second job. In addition, minimum-wage workers, working hours may fluctuate wildly from one week to the next, making it difficult for them to budget effectively and save up
The article relates to me because my child had a hard time falling asleep and woke up numerous times during the night. This started from the day she was born till almost the age of 4. Many days it was hard to function because of fatigue and stress. The simplest task of putting your child to sleep became the most dreaded time of the day. Even though you wanted them to sleep so badly, so you could also sleep, it was an exhausting exercise that seemed to take hours. I hope this article makes people aware of the affect your child’s sleep has on yourself and find treatment. I also hope this article creates more treatment options for children with sleep disruptions.
I arrive home around 11:00 p.m. to a sleeping wife and child. I walked into my daughter Emily’s nursery to give her a kiss goodnight. I leaned in and placed my lips on her forehead as she lightly opened her eyes. I rubbed her back and sang softly to put her back to sleep.
...s my son. When you have a child, everything in your life seems more meaningful things of little importance before are now the things that make your day. The air was hot the sound of laughter and talk filled the room as friends and family gathered round to celebrate Terry’s 1st birthday; Cake flies through the air as terry smashing his cake. My son turns to look at me with a big cake grin and as I look into those big blue eyes, I know I made the right choice.
This is my journal of the daily life of a single teenage mother. My experience with my sugar baby was so much fun, but I soon learned that it wouldn't be easy caring for a baby all day long every day. Day one began my journey, when I introduced Lauren Ashley to my friends and family. I fixed her curly brown hair up in a bow, and I put on her a newborn diaper. There were so many styles of diapers to choose from in the store; it was mind-boggling. She had the cutest little ears I had ever seen. It was very heavy carrying Lauren Ashley everywhere all over school, including my books! The only time I needed a babysitter was when I had football games, pep-rallies, cheer practice, and class, so basically all day. I saw right then that daycare would be a necessity. I hired my parents, my grandmother, and my friends to baby sit. Whenever me and the other cheerleaders went to practice, we created a daycare in Mrs. Dennis' classroom. If Lauren Ashley were a real baby, I would pay around $90.00 a week just for her to go to daycare, and that doesn't include any extra food or diapers I would need to send. I also couldn't imagine having to wake up every two hours all night long to feed, change diapers, and rock Lauren Ashley back to sleep. But, I know I would really love my baby, so I would take care of her the proper way.
...onomy. Day care can be a positive option for parents seeking help with child care. It is self-assuring for many parents that are struggling to raise a family while balancing job security, to know that there are a variety of options out there for the watching of children. As with any difficult task, the monitoring of child safety concerns should stay primarily as a parent’s number one responsibility and concern. Today there is government help and assistance by providing mandatory safety and ethics requirements that are enforced through safety-regulatory agencies and through inspections for compliance for the purpose of licensing approval. It is a welcome thought for parents to know that they may be doing their children a favor in using a day care, by helping their young ones become better prepared for kindergarten and giving them an opportunity to learn new skills.
Having a safe and healthy childcare setting is one of the most important duties in a daycare. Educators practising good healthy procedures is a good way for children to learn about healthy choices as educators are, good role models.
A normal day for a daycare facility is to have many classrooms full of students like a typical public school; however, they are younger children and are being supervised by an adult. That adult is responsible for, on average, four to ten students at any given time, ages ranging from zero to six. During that time, a lot can happen. These busy workers have many responsibilities throughout the day. The most important one is safety. Because these children are so young, they are also adventurous therefore need a lot of attention. Daycare workers have to spend much time supervising these children while performing other tasks throughout the day. Not only do children need to be supervised to be safe, but they also need to have a safe, clean and presentable environment that the daycare workers of the facility are to maintain. One way to keep things clean is to sanitize, in which is a big task of these workers. Children are always putting things in their mouth and then passing it off to other kids; therefore, sanitation is a big deal in these types of facilities. Another responsibility that daycare providers have are to enforce rules. When rules are broken, these providers are to then enforce discipline policies. These can sometimes become an issue seeing that these providers are not the parents of the children thus they have to consult with the parents on certain discipline techniques to use on specific children. On the other hand, these providers are similar to parents in the sense that they wash children's clothing and clean up after every child. In addition to all the other responsibilities, daycare providers also have to maintain current, accurate and confidential client files per child. These files are to consist of observations and r...
Each and every daycare has their own menu for the children’s breakfast and lunch. Through my observations, I have noticed that the “Don’t Worry Childcare” has a variety of food selections throughout the month. For example, the children could either choose from fruit loops cereal, or frosted flakes for breakfast. The children’s snacks eaten varies every day as well. For instance, the children ate milk and cookies one day, and cheese crackers another day. An example of lunch would be, milk, chicken fingers, French fries, green beans, and mixed fruit one day, and spaghetti, corn, peaches, and bread another day. I observed the children eat ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, and peaches one day for lunch. All those food options seemed very delicious.
“I felt scared because I didn’t know much about younger children. I also was nervous because I didn’t get along with my step-son and was scared that I wouldn’t get along with my own children when they were older.”
The day went on smoothly until the crepuscule showed its majestic colors throughout the calm sky. We were playing with a lot of tiny toys, keeping it real in our little imaginary world. We used to bring to life all the cartoon characters that we saw at television, even though we saw them separately, him at home, and me in the archaic coffee shop where I "drove by" to essentially watch the cartoon, sell retail cigarettes, and expect the owner's wife to give me some cookies or an apple.
I stood at the end of the driveway with a bag of clothes and my little sisters by my side. My dad pulled up, we got in the truck, and we drove about 10 minutes until we got to his shop. This would seem like a normal day, but things were different this time. We weren 't at the shop to ride the four wheelers around or to play basketball in the garage or to mess with the pinball machines. There was a gloomy feel about everything around us. Even though I didn’t say anything, I knew things were changing.
Childcare is widely known as the regular non-parental care of children while parents are absent. Many reasons like work, studying or just having a break from raising children push parents to the use of child day care. But with the increase of both parents, especially mothers, opting to go back to work sooner rather than later after having children, demand for child day care is increasing accordingly. This increase has initiated much research into the short and long term emotional, cognitive and social behavioural patterns of children receiving non-parental care.
“The children have been a wonderful gift to me, and I’m thankful to have once again seen our world through their eyes. They restore my faith in the family’s future” (Anderson, 176). Her children were her world; everything she did was for them. She tried her best to be the perfect mother.
When a person becomes a parent and they see their child for the first time, they want to give that child the best: a good education, strong values, morals, respect, good health, and so on. They want that child to succeed and have a great opportunity in the world. They want to make the best decisions for their child so when they grow up they can make decisions on their own. Unfortunately, for most families, parents who do have jobs during the day, their difficult decision is choosing the right form of day care for their children. The early years of your child’s life are the most important for development. For parents it is important to consider how sending their child to day care will affect their future.
