The Atkins Diet created in 1972 by cardiologist Dr. Robert C. Atkins in the United States. The Atkins diet is worldwide a popular high-protein, low carbohydrate, high fat weight loss diet. The diet emphasizing protein and fats in the body to help lose weight while it restricts carbohydrates. The Atkins diet changes the way you eat to help you lose the weight and as well keeping it off. The diet was created to help boost your energy to help improve certain health issues such as high blood pressure, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. The goal for the Atkins diet is for you to eat more high-fiber vegetables with your meals. As well as avoiding fatty cuts of meats. Like most diets the Atkins diet doesn 't want you to count calories or use portion control. It wants to learn to track the carb intake in each meal. As well as learning the count the total carbohydrates that you take in which they call it the net carbs in food. The way you receive you net carbs is by subtracting the total number carbohydrates you take in minus its fiber content. For example, if you eat a half cup of raw broccoli it contains 2.3 grams of total carbs and contains 1.3 grams of fiber. So you subtract 2.3 grams minus 1.3 grams of fiber and you will get a total of only 1 gram of net carbs. the Atkins diet has three strict phases to in order for the diet to help correctly you will need to follow.
Phase 1:Induction
⦁ cut out almost all carbohydrates out of you diet intake. Once you do that then you should only take in 20 grams a day and coming from mainly vegetables that you eat.
⦁ Eat more protein. Examples: fish, eggs, shellfish, poultry, cheese and meat. and you should have more protein in every meal you eat.
⦁ AVOID sugars, breads, pastas, alcoh...

Like every diet it has its side affects and issues. I would be very cautious when on it. I like they lay out what you need to do for the diet to work correctly and see affects.I do believe it works but not the same on everyone we are all different in every way, our bodies react differently as well. Yes the Atkins diet nutritionally sounds ok. It helps you break down unwanted carbs and fibers. It shows you the meal plan as an idea of what you should do. It tells you your intakes for foods. Yes all diets are dangerous but you never know until you try it to see if it will work for you or not. So yes I would go on the Atkins diet to help better my life and maintain it as a life style.
