Teenage Marriage: What's the Rush? Young people today have a tendency to rush in to commitments before fully understanding what they are getting into. One of the most serious of these is marriage. This commitment is taken lightly by many teenagers. The factors causing teenage marriage are as varied as the effects. Sometimes marriage is looked at as an escape from difficult situations at home or with parents. Parents may even encourage their children to get married before they are ready to assist their own financial situations. Other teenagers get involved in serious relationships from a very young age. This could lead to pregnancy or even the idea that they must move on to the next step before they are really ready. There are several serious effects and problems associated with rushing into marriage. Anyone considering getting married should be aware of some devastating statistics and possibilities. In Eleanor H. Ayer's book, Teen Marriage, she noted that: "A girl married at 17 is twice as likely to be divorced as a girl 18 or 19. If a girl waits until she is 25 the chances that her marriage will last are 4 times better" (Ayer). More than one half of those who marry in their teens will be divorced within five years (Teenage Marriage...). This large percentage is due in part to the lack of realization of the many sacrifices that must be made in order to have a successful marriage. Another factor that affects this statistic is the widespread acceptance by society of divorce. If people would enter into the commitment of marriage without thinking of divorce as an option, relationship problems would be looked at more seriously and solved before marriage. Many married people must also sacrifice their own independence and their education. There is really no good reason to rush into marriage. Marriage and love, now days it is true that you'll find a couple who had fell in love and that had made it throughout. marriage is more than a couple who are dedicated its showing responsibility and shows they will be there for eachother. I can personally relate to this by me and my girlfriend have been dating for a while and we still fight a lot but we get over it and we broke but got back, i don't see myself ready yet to tackle this big factor in my life or not just yet or anytime soon, maybe once im done with school and get a job in my career when i'm more stable rather as now when say i end up with a kid at this age at nineteen and no job just working on cars for side job.From when girls are small they are told that marriage is the goal and once there married they will have to be ready to do chores and cook, clean and, take care of the household. Writing is a tool, something that is forever changing and adapting so that it can best fit those who wield it. Back when writing was invented, there were no such things as computers, pens, and pencils. Writing was composed of a wedging tool and clay in order to track the business transactions of the Sumerian people (Baron). So, how is it that writing has changed so much over time?
When my parents were my age, it was normal to get married because they were not stupid enough to get married just because they wanted to. Nowadays young adults get married just because they feel lonely and they want somebody to cuddle with at night. Our generation is so messed up that some of them get married just because they think that if they have someone special that is going to make them happy. Some people get married just because they think they are going to last forever and live happy for their rest of their lives. They think that is a fairy tale like how they make it look in the movies shown on the Disney channel. People should really think about what they are going to do because marriage is a huge step. Although there is no law that states what age someone can get married, I think that getting married younger than twenty-five can be a terrible mistake because the couple is probably immature, not stable and not committed.

When entering a sacred union, such as a marriage, the person is entering uncharted water that can end up in happiness or divorce. For females in the 1900s, it became more of a chore than happiness. From an early age, the female mind has been trained, by their parents and society, to automatically take the role of a mother and a wife. I do not know how it is for everyone else but for me almost everyday that I get on my social media accounts I see posts about someone announcing a pregnancy or engagement. Have you ever sat back and questioned how many marriages whether they were 18 year old couples or 50 year old couples divorced? In an Article By Scott Stanley he asked sociologist Paul Amato what he thought the divorce rate was today and he said “difficult to know what is going on with the divorce rate” (Stanley) but predicts it to be forty two to forty five percent.
While the age of marriage is generally on the rise, in many countries, especially among poor, migrant or displaced communities, early marriage – marriage of children and adolescents below the age of eighteen – is still widely practiced. Tremendous number of couples enters marriage without any chance of exercising their right to choose. Some are forced into marriage, others are simply too young to make an informed decision about their partner or about the implications of marriage itself. Studies have shown that teenage married couples are often less advantageous, may come from broken homes, may have little education and work, low status jobs in comparison to those that marry after adolescence. It could be very encouraging if our community established a prohibition on the early marriages, giving a room for young couples’ relationships to grow. I propose to ban early marriages because they bring a lot of flaws in our society and make the young couples face imposing obstacles during their life path.
The Egyptians were the earliest people who created a written form of their language. Hieroglyphics are found on pyramid walls, inscribed on tombs, and on papyrus. Writing was found on practically every surface the Egyptians were able to write on. They illustrated some parts of what was written to make things easier to understand even though some characters used in Egyptian hieroglyphics resemble what they refer to. A myriad of the characters represent more than one letter. For example, the illustration of a head stood for the sound that the two consonants t and p would make. It is illustrations like these that made it harder for the students during ancient times to learn the written form of their respective language (Carboni).
Statistics show that in 1998, 2,256,000 couples became married, and 1,135,000 couples became divorced (Fast 1,2). For every two couples getting married, there is one that is getting divorced. In fact, half of ALL marriages end in divorce (Ayer 41). That is a sad reality to face. Those percentage rates increase as the age of the participant’s decrease. It seems these days, fewer and fewer teens between the ages of 14 and 18 are getting married. This is a change for the better. Teens are usually not prepared for marriage. Marriage comes with many responsibilities; most of which teens are not prepared to handle. “Early marriage, though possessing certain inherent dangers, is widely practiced in contemporary America” (Teenage 1). Even if teens feel they have the potential for a lasting marriage, they should still wait to become married.
The guiltiest people of abusing and overusing the phrase, “I love you.” As well, they are the people with the worst reputation for relationships. Not only that, but no one ever believes the relationship will last, except for them. Teens being so adolescent are the reason they have a bad name with relationships. They bring their own reputation upon themselves. Almost all teen relationships are looked down upon because of the way majority of them work.
Do you prefer getting married at a younger age or do you prefer to wait to a older age? Many people nowadays get married at a young age still. But there is others who wait till they have their career and stability to get married. There is many pros and con is both circumstances. In both theories people has their own opinions and their choices on what they want. Although, marriage can be enjoyed throughout your entire life there is many differences in marrying at a young age and marrying at a older age due to financial decisions, time spent, and independence.
