Romeo and Juliet - The Tragedy
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a play written by the well-known author, William Shakespeare. The setting of the play is the 1400's in Verona, Italy. This is a play based on two families who have had an ancient grudge for many years, and their children who fall in love. What makes the story of Romeo and Juliet such a tragedy are the various decisions made by the characters of the play such as Romeo. Romeo made many decisions, some good, some bad; his decisions have a great effect towards other characters in the play and the outcome of the events in this dramatic play.
Many of Romeo's decisions have had a good effect on the play. "I'll go along, no such sight to be shown, but to rejoice in splendor of mine own"(1.2.102-103). His decision to take the servants offer and go to the Capulet's gathering to see Rosaline is one of some of the good decisions Romeo makes throughout the play. If Romeo hadn't gone to the Capulet's gathering, he would have never met Juliet, "the charm of looks"(2.1.6). If this event hadn't happened, then Romeo would have never leapt over the orchard wall to see Juliet and make the promise of marrying her. Romeo's decision to use Friar's organized plan and escape to Mantua and await the Friar's message of news from Verona, and when and where he will meet his tender Juliet, is good decision in a way. Friar Lawrence's plan would have worked if Friar John hadn't been sealed in a house where health officers suspected the plague, the Black Death which was suspected to be spreading at the time had infected people. Romeo's very last decision to commit suicide was a very courageous decision, yet many people would think it a foolish decision. It is a good decision because of the outcome of this event. If Romeo hadn't killed himself, then Juliet wouldn't have killed herself, but because he did, it brought the two families, which had an ancient feud for many generations, peace and harmony. The families agree to no more chaos, no more brawls; because of their selfishness, the children they cherished, are now perished.

It is clear that because her family’s involvement with religion would be one reason why Aretha Franklin became as famous as a Gospel singer. Some people would say that her love for religion is unbelievable, but after researching her childhood it is very believable. Dr. Strangelove (1964), an adaptation of Peter Bryant’s novel Red Alert, although still bearing the usual traits of a Kubrick film, is something of a departure for him in terms of editing and spatial strategies. The film’s run-time more or less corresponds with the fictional or represented time in the story. This direct correspondence between fictional and real time adds to the sense of temporal compression induced by the film’s insistent editing patterns. Although Dr. Strangelove employs many long takes, it contains the shortest average-shot-length of any Kubrick film. The film consists of roughly 700 shots and has a run time of 94 minutes for an average-shot-length of 8 seconds. Despite the rather short average-shot-length, Dr. Strangelove still resorts to crucial long takes to slow down the rapid momentum of the story (Falsetto, 35).

In the opening statements both side of the case make opening statements to lay the foundation of their cases. Opening statements are not allowed to be argumentative and cannot be considered evidence by the jury; they are the road maps laying out where each side intends to take its case. First the prosecution presented its case. They alleged Peterson killed his wife in their Modesto home because he was having an affair, then drove her body nearly 100 miles to San Francisco Bay and heaved it overboard from his small boat. Prosecution offered a steady drum beat of small bits of circumstantial evidence. From the Russian poetry Peterson read his mistress to the fishing gear in his alibi to the dessert featured on a particular episode of Martha Stewart Living, it added up to Peterson's guilt, they suggested. The defense countered that Modesto authorities unfairly targeted Peterson, ignoring important leads that didn't fit their theory. Defense said that, while prosecutors had only assembled a circumstantial case, they had five witnesses that were direct evidence of Peterson's innocence.
Romeo’s problems arose when he was banished for avenging Mercuito by murdering Tybalt. His decision to murder Tybalt was not entirely thought through. In fact, after Romeo kills the Capulet, he exclaims that he is ‘fortune’s fool’ (73) line 132. Additionally, his banishment certainly contributed to his death because it kept him away from Verona and Juliet. If he hadn’t been banished, he would have been aware of the plan the Friar and Juliet had created.
