College Admissions Essay - So Much Hate
So much hate in this world,
Time,
Age,
Century.
So much death by so many people over the smallest fault,
Against them,
They see,
They cannot tolerate.
Fear and shame haunt our cities,
Towns,
Homes,
Hearts.
The hearts of those not welcomed by too many:
Latinos,
Negroes,
Homosexuals,
The Beautiful Diverse
For being who they are,
What they are,
Throughout History our world has seen societies which have risen to power and publicity through pure hatred and suffering of others. Our past could yet, reveal the answer to the question, “Can a society based on hate and suffering survive?”. The most powerful and controversial of these societies will be mentioned and with hope, put an end to our uncertainty. The German Reich, modern day North Korea, Al-Qaeda, and the Ku Klux Klan. These listed had based their societies on hate, suffering, or both, which they have marked themselves forever in history.
One of the most argued topics throughout human history is whether or not God exists. It is argued frequently because there are several different reasonings and sub arguments in this main argument. People who believe God exists argue how God acts and whether there is one or several. People who do not believe God exists argue how the universe became into existence or if it has just always existed. In this paper, I will describe Craig's argument for the existence of God and defend Craig's argument.
The Hate U Give was written by Angie Thomas in 2017, and was written based on a true story. This book is very powerful, because it shows events that are happening in today’s time. It starts off with a girl, who goes to a prep high school, but lives in the ghetto. The girl, known as Starr, is a very nice and smart girl that doesn’t get in trouble and stays out of trouble. She goes to a party with her close friend, Kenya, who begged her to go. The party gets shot up and her childhood friend, Khalil, leave and are on the way to take her home. Khalil gets pulled over because his tail light is out and when the cop comes up to the door, Khalil doesn’t do what the cop says and Khalil gets shot. Later on that night, Starr’s family shows up to take
A very strong feeling of dislike, intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury. Is how Websters discribes the word Hate. Thurman gives proof of that definition in this chapter about hate. He uses stories and personal examples that provide us a picture in words of what hate means and how Jesus was totally against the hatred. He writes that hatred is death to the spirit and disintegration of ethical and moral values. Above and beyond all else it must be borne in mind that hatred tends to dry up the springs of creative thought in the life of the hater, so that his resourcefulness becomes completely focused on the negative aspects of his environment. The urgent needs of the personality for creative expression
What would it be like to wake up everyday knowing you would get bullied, mistreated, and/or abused just because of where you were born? Discrimination still exists! “Discrimination remains and there is an increase in hate crimes against Hispanics, Latinos and Mexican-Americans, as one of the perceived symbols of that discrimination, the U.S.-Mexico Border Fence, nears completion. Instead of pulling together in these difficult times, we may see a greater polarization of attitudes” (Gibson). But why are hate crimes increasing towards Latin and Hispanic aliens and what types of discrimination are occurring against them? Understanding violence towards the Hispanic and Latin alien is divided into three main classes; the difference between legal and illegal aliens, the attacks and effects, and the point of view of different people towards aliens.
It is so difficult to stand out in everywhere. “There must be other Latinas like me. But I haven 't met any.” (Barrientos, Tanya p.65). Barrientos uses this article to share her struggles. She believes that if we face our problems such as race problem, we can overcome racial stereotypes. Author’s writings like a mental support encourage people to stand out. And they could influence people who have Latino community in the United States. If people feel that they are alone with their racial struggles, they should face that by themselves, but this article make them realize that they should speak up and support each other, sticking together in order to face and solve problems. Racial stereotypes cannot define citizens who do not have white skin and blue eyes, about who they are. And they, facing racial problem, will not judge other people because of their backgrounds and histories. In China, a part of officer is Embezzle money and engage in corrupt practices. People will look for other people. They will find other people not have a good reflect about telling low-office the corruption. Then, they will keep silence. If there are some guys to stand out and report the corruption event to law-office. Maybe they who stand out will lose money and social status, even go to prison, therefore, most people want to keep silence. People who keep silence is like the Latina people who do not stand out. It is an important determine for every Latina and
Some humans cringe of the idea of God, and some rely on it. Protestants and Catholics killed each other over different beliefs, so this is a very deep topic to get into. Aristotle asks what keeps the universe in everlasting motion. The author gives a great description of how Aristotle begins to understand the concept of God. He says, “IN his view, attractive or final causes operate on intelligences that can respond to them and adopt them as motives for action. When he says that a heavy body that falls to earth wishes to come to rest there, he is speaking metaphorically, not literally” He then says, “Thinking in this way, Aristotle found it necessary to endow the heavenly bodies with intelligences that function as their motors. As the engine of an automobile is its motor, so an intelligence is the motor that keeps a star in motion. But unlike the automobile engine, which must itself be set in motion, the celestial intelligences function as motors through being attracted by the prime mover of the universe.” Trying to understand God is not easy, but Aristotle came up with that the prime mover of the universe, or God, is devoted to matter. This immaterial thing humans call God is also a perfect being and is the mover of the universe. He had a different idea of God versus what the Bible makes God out to
Technology has provided our society with numerous innovations that have been created to improve the quality of life on a daily basis. One such innovation is the Internet. The access to a wide variety of information is perhaps the most valuable tool, as well as the most important tool, that we have entering the twenty-first century. There are virtually no limits on how much can be achieved through the use of the Internet. This is not, however, necessarily a good thing. Most people find that offensive material such as child pornography and hate-related propaganda can be viewed by people too easily via the Internet. While child pornography is a detestable subject, it does not have the sort of appeal that a hate group website does in that there are stricter guidelines preventing individuals from attaining child pornography material from the Internet. These stricter guidelines include the Communications Decency Act (1995), which forbids the use of the Internet for such purposes as attaining material of a child pornographic nature (Wolf, 2000). This law can also be used to monitor the hate group websites, but since the law is too broad, it is rarely held up in court. The hate group websites do, however, have a large enough following that there is legislation being formed to specifically target the material on the sites. Despite the highly offensive nature of hate group websites, the sites should not be censored because the right to free speech must be preserved. In this paper we will define what is considered to be hateful content; why this hateful content should be protected; what else can be done to monitor this material on the Internet; and when are the people cr...
In this paper, I will argue that God exists because nothing can be its own cause. Chains of causes and effects occur, but in order for a chain to occur, there must be a first cause. God is the first cause, therefore God exists. Throughout this paper, I will talk about God as an ultimate being but I will not relate to religion. Whether you relate to Allah, Krishna, Jesus, etc. I will only focus on proving the existence of God.
Hate crimes has become an increasing problem here in the united states ranging from racial hatred to gender discrimination but what are hate crimes? According to Dr. Jack McDevitt, a criminologist at Northeastern University in Boston Hate crimes are message crimes, Hate crimes are defined as crimes that are violent act against people, property, or organizations because of the group to which they belong or identify with. The coined term “hate crimes” was first used No matter how many different definitions there are for hate crimes but we all can agree that hate crimes are wrong and immoral. But within hate crimes they are many different types of hate crimes. One of the main reasons that people commit hate crimes would have to be because of racial hatred. Racial Hatred is a major factor in hate crimes with African Americans being the main target. According to the FBI database in 1996, 4,831 out of the 7,947 such crimes reported to the FBI, or 60%, were promulgated because of race, with close to two-thirds (62%) targeting African Americans.
This Toronto Star article discusses incidences of hate crimes across the GTA and suggests that hate crimes are on the rise. The article highlights hate crimes such as; a man in Brampton being assaulted because of his race, a Muslim women’s car windows getting smashed and racist graffiti around the GTA. The article states that hate crimes have been on the rise in Canada since 2012 and especially in the last 8 to 10 months. This rise in hate crime is attributed, partly, to United States President Donald Trump. The article claims that President Trump has enabled hate crime rhetoric and violence to grow. Lastly, the article states the purpose of hate is to signal “unwanted community members” to leave.
What comes to mind when you think of hate crimes? Do you think of someone getting so mad that they could say hateful words or do something they would later regret.
Every hour in the United States, somebody commits a hate crime; that's 24 crimes motivated by hatred of others every day. In 2015 there were 5,800 crimes reported, which increased to 6,100 cases in 2016. Hate crimes are on the rise in the United States and Americans need to figure out what is behind the rapid increase because the nation is becoming polarized and anyone perceived as other is in danger.
However, if we picture God as something that could be everywhere, surrounding us like air or awareness, then, understanding if and what God is - all of a sudden - becomes a possibility. I am sure you can agree: if there is a God, then God has to exist and has to be aware of His Existence (can you even picture an unconscious God). Also, He must exist on his own, which means: God must be self-energetic. That is the safest thing we can say without too much speculation.
Napster is a company that developed the so-called peer-to-peer technology that lets people search and retrieve music files directly from one another's personal computers. When Napster first came out, millions of internet users worldwide were illegally downloading and distributing copyrighted music, videos, images, and software for free. After being vilified by the entertainment industry, which claims that Napster and any similar programs could make piracy of almost any digital work unstoppable, and many court battles, Napster was ordered by court to be shutdown in 2000. The technology has been praised as a revolutionary development for the Internet—unaware of the problems that would arise from such practices. However, the termination of Napster was not enough, months later, dozens of new, like programs were being developed and used. And since Napster, not much has been done to stop these latest downloading programs.
