The Study of Management
I decided to pursue a career in management at the age of fourteen and since then sought to fulfill my dream. I believe it is a proper job for me, as I am a person who enjoys challenging tasks and I know that it would give me opportunity for intellectual and cultural development.
Initially, I wanted to study at a Polish university, but with time it became apparent that the Polish job market, in the areas which interest me most, is slowly heading towards saturation. I realised that in order to get a satisfying job, I must be better than other candidates. Renowned British universities allow me to acquire better qualifications, as well as a different, more objective point of view on the Polish economy.
I am a very open-minded and inquisitive person and I try to use any opportunity to improve my knowledge and practise skills. That is why I am involved in various voluntary activities. I am a member of a School European Club, which aims at bringing the problems of Poland's unification with the EU closer to the students of our school. I am also a representative of Poland at the Baltic Sea Youth Forum, which will take place in Stockholm in a few days? time.
I am particularly keen on computing. I successfully managed to combine this passion of mine with my work for the school. For the past year I have been the Network Administrator and now, as I have less time, I only take care of computers in the Office.
I believe Life is a gift and a responsibility to gain from society and gives it back all the good things we learn from our surroundings and our community we live in. For a career, I would like to be involved in the fast developing computer industry and more particularly with the Internet. I think it has immense potential and I would like to be able to develop the Internet to make it help the lives of day to day people. In this way I would also like to help make computers more like humans with for example voice operated user interfaces.
I like options, I like security, and I like power. With these wants, I knew at a very early age that I would enter business and thus I attended a college that specializes in the subject. In my first position out of school, I was hired by Dunhill Equities as a cold-caller. After several weeks of being hung up on by angry prospects, I decided that this career path would not lead me to success. I then moved within the firm to a position as sales assistant. While this was by no means my dream job, I learned a tremendous amount about business, and I gained useful exposure to the world of finance. Unfortunately, the company hit a period of instability, and after ten months I transferred with my boss to Coleman & Company. Thirteen months later, that company also began to fail, and I began to search for another path to advancement. With two strikes against me, I hit a home run and was hired by Sanford Bernstein into a challenging job with limitless opportunity for growth.
Public Administration, as a field, had always captivated me right from my undergraduate days. I believe my curiosity for this field comes from my family. Both my father and my uncle were politicians. During my early days, I used to go to my father’s office where I had a great chance to observe different kinds of people with various jobs and interests. This was the first time I learned how mutual interests bring people together. When I understood how public relations work naturally, it forced me strongly to study and comprehend the complex theory of politics. After finishing high school, I made up my mind to pursue a career in Political Science. For this reason, I was enrolled to Istanbul Bilgi University’s Political Science program. After having completed my Bachelor’s Degree, I decided to excel in this field by completing a Master’s degree.
Ever since I was young I have always been interested in businesses and how they operate, as well as being fascinated by other languages and cultural differences. My passion for the subject expanded when I chose business studies and french, as part of my A-level education. Although these subjects are somewhat demanding, I find them extremely interesting. I believe that a degree combining both these aspects is the correct choice for me. I am confident that a course in international business studies and modern languages satisfies both these interests. I will be looking forward to learning about the international business world and I am relishing the thought of learning to integrate with other European countries. The idea of learning to communicate with other people across the world is something that has always appealed greatly to me.
Performance management is a process that guarantees an organisation and all of its available resources are working collectively and effectively towards achieving the organisation’s mission or goal. Performance management affords an understanding of what drives an individuals, and even organisations, performance at all levels. An understanding of performance management allows for the identification and minimisation of unproductive areas of an organisation, as well as an ability to predict future performance. It is a powerful tool that can be used by managers at all levels of an organisation to help improve a company’s productivity.
